Default My problem

I have posted a few times about this but never really got a response. This time I took videos so that you can hear and see what my car does at idle... Keep in mind it does not do it on a cold start and all of my hoses are clamp so I know it can't be a boost leak...also my afr at idle is about 14.6, but when the rpms jump my afr starts to go crazy, sometimes it levels itself back out and others it stalls.

1st video is my rpm gauge at idle and if you listen close you can hear what the motor is doing

Ok in this video I got the boost gauge and the rpm gauge and once again listen to the engine as the gauges bounce around.

If anyone could help it would be great.

Usually when I had my integra that meant your Idle Air Control Valve was out of whack.. but i have no idea on our cars what it means.. Hope someone can help you sort this out..

I also had this problem with my F/IC

There is a thread that was recently made and many people have this idle surging also.

I dont know what causes it, but its tuning related

yup it should be related with tuning.. i even had that on my standalone which i fixed.. I noticed that when the inj pulse width values on the idle area were rough or they vary a lot from on cell to another in the idle area.. how does your afr look? is it pretty consistent? Another thing i think could be a cause would be the closed loop constantly adding/removing fuel on idle, try adding fuel on the idle area and see if it help.. does it do that with ac/on off?

Do you have a CEL code, if so what is it?

i read the first post again, since your afr reads crazy as the rpm starts jumping then i say it should be your fuel map on the idle area.. the aem FIC has that 3d fuel graph right? look into that and see if there are dips or really rough area on the fuel map..

The code I get is P0136. Code or not, I still have the idle problem. My ScanGauge II clears the code, but it'll still search for idle.

Yea my afr at idle is like 14.6 and throughout the powerband it stays consistent...it doesn't jump around. One thing I did try was when I am at idle and I and turn the a/c or defroster (putting more load on the engine) it levels itself out for a while, but then does it again. The CEL is like p0172 which is engine running rich, so the code isn't anything bad. Do you think if I added fuel to bring the afr to around 11 or 12 that would help?

95% of civic swaps have this problem. Most of the time it's related to the OBD-0. It's much worse on Hondas tho, everyone at my school that did a swap of some sort, bounced from 500-2000 for idle.

K, I should be able to let you know what is causing the code, and that's not a very good code to be throwing. It's seeing the engine running rich, so it tried to compensate by cutting back as much fuel as possible.
