Default need advice about buying a turbo, please help!

hey guys i know im about to be flamed and laughed at but im prepared lol!

anyways ive been researching turbos for the better part of a year thinking i could never afford one, however i prob. have about 1500-2000 saved. i hate the idea of boosting on a budget, its a quick way to be without a car and money. boost is so addictive and was wondering if i could get away safely with a turbo for this price. i mean, i dont want a stage 0 from zpi because there no longer in business and i know there mitsu turbos are know to blow seals! is there anyway to run a stage 1 kit at low boost to keep it safe and not have to buy a clutch? flame on!

boost for 2K not a chance and being picky with kits or turbos. Stock clutch is garbage you can run it boosted but you have to drive like an old person and where is the fun in that after boost. Keep saving to get a good kit not an ebay kit. I think Dezod has a bad **** deal on there kits if I am not mistaken there sale price is 3600.

One thing to remember when buying a turbo kit:

Fast, cheap, reliable.

Pick two.

I would like to see that. I can see being able to buy the hardware but after injectors, managment, and tune its over 2K.

yes but if you run any boost untuned = ossible severe consequences, the more the boost the worse chance at blowing your engine.

I could do a reliable turbo setup for 2k - but i dunno about you - its not gunna be a bolt on and will require alot of things most diy'ers dont have - not to mention a good bit of experience SO is it possible? Yes - can or should most people do it - no

thats one thing i have on my side...know how. ive been taking automotive classes for three years, working at dealerships for two and feel i could easily install the turbo with my brother in laws help and tools (hes a Toyota tech). the one thing i dont have though, is money. Being 18, working and going to school is a situation a lot of teens my age are in. this idea is very tempting though but i def need to weigh it out to see if its worth it to pursue it or wait until i have more save up in a year or two!

yea, it's pretty damn hard to do for under 2k but it's possible. very possible.

cheap cast manifold, smaller turbo, small injectors and cheap management and ebay piping and used BOV and wastegate shouod keep it cheap

if i did decide to go turbo and installed myself, how bad would it be to drive the car for an hour at 70mph to get it tuned?
