Default Need Help with used turbo kit

Well a few weeks ago I picked up a Used custom turbo kit for What I think was a good price of $800. I do not plan on installing it until I know more about what I have and how it works. I have been doing a lot of reading and and a few questions for you guys

Ill list the specs first:

-T3/T4 A/R .50 Turbo (unknown brand)
-Custom Manifold (looks to be stainless steel and Equal Length style)
-Turbo Smart Pro-Gate Wastegate (10 psi spring)
- Stainless Steel Open Dump Pipe (I think thats what its called LoL)
-Go Fast Bits 1002 Plumback Blow Off Valve (Also came w/ Stiffer Spring and trumpet to make it vent to atmosphere)
-Custom Aluminum Intercooler piping (edges are rolled, I think its called bead rolled)
- Intercooler 6 1/2" H x 29" W x 3 1/2" D 2.5" Inlet/Outlet (Unknown Brand)
-Zpi 550cc injectors (I think they are plug and play)

What I need:

1. Oil and Air lines
2. Piggy Back controller (AEM is what im going with)
3. Piggy Back controller harness (from Dezod unless AEM's is cheaper when it comes out)
4. Gauges (Autometer boost and oil pressure and AEM UEGO 6 in 1 Wideband)
5. ATI gauge pod

I plan on getting the Piping powder coated along with my valve cover. Now here are my questions

1. How can I get the manifold to shine again? Sandblasting?
2. As you can see from the last pic the exhaust side or the turbo is rusted, Again would sandblasting be a safe way to remove the rust? I would need to then ceramic coat the hot side to prevent future rusting correct?
3, Can you see anything that I missed on my list of parts that I need?

I know its kind of a long post but I need some help lol thanks

the hot side is probably cast iron which would rust from oxidation. i would just send the turbo to Jet Hot and let them handle it for you. they will disassemble it and coat it for $185 (for the black 2000).

Im assuming I would first need to disassemble the turbo and then send it to them correct?

you just have to take it off the header, and send it as is. Jet Hot will disassemble the rest of it for coating. They only coat the outside so if it doesn't hold up to the heat (which it should no problem) you don't get the coating in your turbo and break it.

Dont jump the gun make sure you have all "ducks in a row " before you jump into this deal.... theres all ways bound to be something missing.... for example how do you plan on doing your oil pan?

Its close but thats not omifab. There were only 3 made. I have one, ippskidder has one and the owner of the former tuning factory has the other. 2 were made with a Mitsu flange and one was made with V-band.

Looks like you got a good deal for 800 to me. Ceramic coat the manifold and turbo housing and never worry about rust again.

This is exactly Why I started this thread

I think I might pick up another oil pan and have it tapped and ready so I will have less down time on my install day

I want to ceramic coat the manifold, but then again I want to make it shine again lol

Thanks for the input guys, anyone else have some advice/comments/suggestions for me?

Its a shinny ceramic coat. Its only suppose to be good for 1,400-1,600 degrees which I can hit under boost but it hasnt shown any signs of fading or flaking.

i'd first try to get the manifold coated.. and the exhuast site of the turbo coated to help with oxidation and rust... then check the turbo for shaft play or any issues with it.. i'd try to get rid of that intercooler and get a newer one thats a tad larger..

maybe do some more research on the turbo you have exactly so u know its complete specs.. and switch to a smaller spring on the wastegate to start off with just so u get use to boost... and also double check the waste gate is in working order aswell..

Ya I saw Jet Hot had that and one that's less shiney but still silver but I was worried that it wouldn't hold up. I might rethink that, though. It's cheaper than Jet Hot 2000. Can you get me a pic of it after some use?

good advice, and it looks like that IC has some nics in it. I'd check it for a leak.

I'm going to get the Manifold Coated in jet-Hot Sterling, my quote was $165, and I think I might go with the same coating for the exhaust side of the turbo, I need to get a quote for that though.

I'm still new to all of this, how would I check to see if the wastegate is in working order? Disassemble it?

I want to run a larger intercooler but I really don't want to cut the crash bar. Once I install my current intercooler Ill see how much room I have to work with and pick up a new one. Although I might just end up cutting the crash bar haha

Thanks for helping me out everyone

The turbo housing is polished stainless steel and the compressor housing is polished as well....no coatings on the turbo itself.
