It's winter time. Tracks are closed. We don't have that luxury like you Florida natives do. Wish though.

Well.. Nice debate guys.. I wouldnt mind having a subbie. Just not a WRX rather have and STi. Because my friends WRX tranny started crapping out after he started making decent power.. STi tranny swap was 6K.
But, as every turbo tC owner I loved being looked down on as a underdog in the community. I built my car. And, it'll beat 75% of the guys out there that talk ____ about the tC. And, once we race and if I did lose the person still saw how fast a tC could be with just turbokit. And, automatically I just got props and made a believer that the tC has alot of potential with a lil money..

i think i'll chime in on this. i see more and more tc owners going the way of srt4 owners, thinking that there car is the fastest thing on the streets. this is simply not true. its a little funny seeing people compare there tc that they turboed to other cars that are purpose built sport cars from the factory. for example evos, sti's, 350z's, s2000's, corvettes, and so on. thanks to the magic of youtube, and streetfire. kids with turbo tc's will go out on some highway and video some runs against some almost bone stock evo, or sti, pull a car or two from a roll, and then say, " my car is an evo killer". its a little frustrating to see people acting this way. when it comes down to it, the tc doesnt have anywhere close to the potential as the afore mentioned cars. its just a economy car. and no mater how fast you think it is, a well build factory sports car will rape the s*it out of your tc in whatever form of racing you do.

The 1/8th mile track is Union Hill which is about a good 45 min drive from me. The 1/4 mile track is Beech Bend which is about a good hour to hour 20 min drive from me. LSD should be on its way soon, WOTbox will be installed before going to track, and some slicks will be in store also before hitting the track when season opens. I will only do the 1/4 mile a few times, cause I want to save the car for Redline Time attack. For that I'm picking up some RPF1's, Toyos, Ksport coilovers and a rear sway bar at minimum. I just got offered a sponsorship from another Scion enthusiast site, so I will see about getting some suspension bushings from them and whatever else in order to prep for the Street Class RTA.
All the mods besides the LSD are pending the receiving of my Christmas bonus that is.

I will have to disagree with you on about 60% of what you said, only for the simple fact that once you start getting into modding the car, you enter the relm, it's the guy with the biggest wallet that wins. Granted he can drive what he built. I have raced bone stock cars that were already powerful, and I've raced those same kind of cars modified. Trying to setup a race with a Z thats spraying 150shot of Nitrous on it, but his reply doesn't seem like he was to eager to do it.

Im rocking the RPF1's on Dunlop Direzza Z1's
Cant beat 15.5 lbs 17x9's with some nice sticky tires for TT
I hope I can get some R-comps on there for the Jan. TT out here!!
^^I would like to run R-comps but then I would have to be in the Modified class with Ptuning. I'm trying my hand at the Street class first, which requires no tread wear rating better than 140 UTQG. Looking to run 18x8 RPF1's with 245 wide tires.
Thats a good combo... I have been running in the Modified/C-class for a while... its kinda scary when a 997 TT passes you on the main straight when your already going 125 lol
Im rocking 255's all around but it was a bish to get them to fit..
have you TT'ed at all before??

In Redline TT, there really isn't any wheel to wheel racing, meaning you really out on the track by yourself during your lap (not literally), but there is enough gap between the cars that you don't run into anyone.
I've did a couple of SCCA Solo runs that were on the TT track that Redline ran when they were down here. Being autox it was decorated with cones, but it was a cross of Time attack due to the sheer size of the course.
Here is what the course was like.

wow... that is a huge auto-x
I cant bring myself to do traditional auto x if im going to be killing my tires Id like to get out of 3rd gear lol
NASA TT isnt supposed to be wheel to wheel... but it kind of ends up that way at times. esp in the HPDE 2 & 3 classes where its more about driver skill than car type....

I like seeing the track talk.
Since the beginning, respect for a car has been earned ON THE TRACK in professional and sanctioned racing situations. Not from you-tube videos of streetracing or streetfire.net videos (not that they had that back then anyhow). Ferarri , Porsche are names of cars well respected because they made their name ON THE TRACK. Sure when you pick up a car magazine and read the specs and stats on those type of cars they look good, but it all derived from actual racetrack testing and time spent aquiring information to improve the car year after year. A person with good income will be inclined to purchase such a car and actually track it. Ferarri and Porsche does not need to prove itself as owners with good driving skills do it for them.
Unfortunatly, Scion owners are not into real track racing. Scion had to hire and sponser teams to get the Scion name recognized in the professional racing enviornment. Now that Drag racing is dying, time attack has been a good showcase as next year Kenny Tran will be running, as well as Chris Rado's AWD tC, and street class xB. Scion had to take it upon themselves to get the name out there. I would say only a handful of other Scion owners in the country actually attend track events, which is sad. So it it definately believable that Scion has not gained respect.
You can say what you want about Honda and Civics, but Civics are well accomplished in the racing world both in drag and road racing and Scion is just beginning to be.
Here is another point, Scion owners(in a general sense) , because most are new to the automotive industry would rather purchase Megan Racing coil-overs or K-sport coil-overs to save $400 then purchase a suspension that is actually track tested and proven such as JIC or Progress, that does not gain respect in the motorsports world. I wont even look it up but I am willing to bet that K Sport and Megan Racing does not make any suspension components for the Porsche 911... there is a reason for that.
Headers and exhaust for a Porsche will run you about $5000. OBX does not make headers for Porsches...........are you guys getting my point? You get what you paid for.
Somebody mentioned that the tC won't get respect because it was never ment to be a performance car to begin with, I disagree. Everybody expects a 350z to do well, or a Corvette Z06, or a STI. It is to be expected for cars such as those to perform well on the track and yes they CAN be respected as a whole but they must be coupled with an excellent driver. Example, last auto-x I attended a club of Porsches ran... many Caymens and 911's. I out-ran the fastes one by 4 seconds and 3 tC's also outran the fastest one. tC's and Scion gained respect on that day.
My Dad is hardcore old school when it comes to cars, he is building a GT-40 kit car now. At Summit Point this past summer at the Redline Time Attack he was drooling all over a 1965 Daytona coupe. That car was running in rwd Unlimited class. My Dad rode passenger with me one practice session and was truely amazed and struck with awww when I passed that car. It changed his whole perspective on technology and ever since then he has a sense of pride in my car. The 1965 Daytona Coupe was once the pinnacle of american track cars breed from racing, the driver tracks the car all the time... and it was passed by a Scion xA which is daily driver and gets 33mpg.
Scions need to get on the track. No repect is earned on the street. The fastest car on the street will get crushed on a real track. So get it together and get Scions respect.

The K-sport Version RR coilovers are Race only coilovers with the spring rate that Mr.C advised me that I should run no less than, which was like 900 if I remember correctly. Those are the ones I'm picking up. I did not want Tein coils as I did not see one that was for a tC that was geared for track as much as street. I will put the K-sports to the test. Not picking them to save a buck, I read the specs on them and that's what made my decision. I have not seen anything else comparable, if you know of something, clue me in.

I have to disagree with only half that. I gained respect for beating the tar of some of the cars that were perceived to be fast. Tracks are not open 24/7 (which if they were, I would be at them nearly every day). But this was the environment that introduced me to motorsports and what the tC could do. This is what I was baptized into sorta speak. I'm just going to leave it at that and not turn the thread into a "Street Racing" debate. After so many races though, you have to ask yourself, what's next and if you are willing to push the envelope. That's the phase I am at right now. Stepping it up, and that's why you will see me on the track chasing down some of those cars you mentioned. Call it an Econobox or whatever some say. At the end of the day, I'm not the one who has a "built from the ground up chassis that was meant for performance", and just got passed up by a Scion.
