Default NST 12.5 psi pulley install and dyno yesterday!

Dude,... got the tc tuned on the 12.5 psi pulley yesterday right, didnt go so well....

Well the NST 12.5 pulley showed a clear 14 psi on the dyno!

But it was detonation city, they had to pull a stupid amount of timing out to get it to no longer knock, but then they were left with 12 less horse power @ 14 psi instead of 10!

Said my sc air outlet temp is much too high for pump gas, said either 700cc injectors with e85 , or intercooler, or lower compression with an engine build, or race gas! but as it sits, no way jose!

Any ideas? they loaded back my 10 psi maps and gunna switch the pulley back today, for now!

Thanks for all your continued knowledge!

I'm no expert on the S/C'er, but from being on here, my understanding is that if you are going to go that high in PSI, then you should be intercooling it.

what where you expecting lol
the only way people have successfully run more then the 9.5 pulley is with liquid injection as a means of cooling the charge.

sorry that things didn't work out but you should have dont some research first

Run a meth kit or a liquid to air IC system and call it a day.

just run a meth kit and thats it! you dont need race gas nor bigger injectors! when i was s/c i ran meth and had 550cc injectors!!! and everything was fine!!! i didnt go up to 14psi i went only 10.5 with my 12.5 psi pulley but you should be good only with meth kit!

lost a shade of horse after they took a stupid amount of timing out of it, but then loaded my 10 psi maps back and swapped the pulley back. so back to 268whp.

Its funny how anything i say on here, anything i inquire about , people just bash you like your an idiot!

For instance the other week when i started a thread on INTERCOOLING THE TRD SUPERCHARGER!!!!

But then everyone laughed in my face and the topic was locked instantly by admin.

Now this happens and everyone like, " You idiot intercool it!"

^ compared to other scion forums the bashing on here is like nothin at all.

theres a difference between intercooling trd supercharger and in trying to put a intercooler on with a trd supercharger

intercooling= meth kit ftw
intercooler= fail with trd s/c

i calculated the s/c outlet temp to be a potential of like 220 F on a 90F degree day with 9.5psi lol so i can only imagine that showing 14psi you've got alot of heat. I'm working on a liquid to air intercooler setup but i won't be finished until the summer. Doing things right and its taking a long time. If you look at the vortech s/c kits on their site, the ford focus kit is almost identical to the t/c setup and its intercooler, actually i think almost all of the vortech s/c kits are intercooled. I got parts from froozenboost.com and a bosch i/c pump from a ford lightning on ebay for $85 total cost with all the fittings and hoses and silicon elbows and t-clamps will come out to $600 I wanted to try something new and I don't like the idea of having to remember to fill up the water injection tank.

It got locked probably cause there's alot of threads on that topic alone. But either way get meth and you inlet temperature will drop drastically trust me.

you could've left the pulley on there, just dont rev it that high while driving and u wouldn't hit the max boost. and like everyone said, cooling is needed at that high a boost...or you could dump extra fuel on there, which won't get you the best results but it'll help a little.

also just noticed that you're running nitrous..why not use that to cool the charge temps? that was my original plan..

yea my tuner told me that too, said they MIGHT have been able to tune the n2o map with the extra boost because of the cooling effect of the n2o, (im running 2 MAPS), but i would rather stay off the bottle as much as possible since its a daily driver.

i also dont like the idea of having anything else to fill like the water meth kits, and im assuming i would need a second nossle in my boost tube, which is one more thing that could leek boost or fail and blow me up.

I DO APPRECIATE ALL THE INFORMATION!!!

You are all great help and its really nice to get different ideas from different areas.

I think im gunna try to mount and pipe an intercooler soon, boost will decrease slightly, but the intake temps will be so much lower, it should be tunable.
Maybe it can be done, maybe it cant, guess i will find out!

i was planning to run two maps too..DD map, and track map. DD map you can just dump extra fuel in there to help with the temps a little and as long as your not constantly mashing the gas pedal while your on your daily commute, it shouldnt be a problem. Track map, use the nitrous as cooling.

and if you're talking about an fmic, good luck. yeah it's aesthetically pleasing but meth inj will get the job done just as well and its cheaper. and about refilling the tank, you don't need to fill it up nearly as often as you fill up your gas tank. The meth is not spraying the entire time that your car is runnning. depending on your tuner, it'll only spray once you've reach a certain psi. so as mentioned before, as long as your not gunning it every minute your on the street, it'd be more cost effective.

but i'm sure you already made up your mind on the fmic lol. so keep us posted!
