Default omfg destroyed ARK N1, catback exhaust.

just now coming home from a friends house, all of a sudden i lose back pressure and my car starts stalling,...i make it home, tho just barely. and i check under the hood, no smoke not blown lines everything seems in order... mind you its 3 in the morning right now.

i get under the car and i see, the resonator chamber after the second cat in my ARK N1 cat back exhaust is sheared open at a weld seam, and the thing is red hot.

wtf.

im turbo'd with dezods s1 kit and double catted.

what do i do?

wow...your exhaust just ripped open? Like a rock? or like a busted cat making to much back pressure?

any pics?

yes it is quite odd. i cant think of why that would happen... any ideas?

i cant take pictures right now because its raining out (damn long island). but the pics wouldnt show how like lava red the resonator cell was, especially toward the front and the weld lines. It looked like a crack last night, and my lack of back pressure would attest to that.

i thought it would be the cat, they should go first in a boosted car obviously, but this is the resonator chamber AFTER both cats,...which is just weird to me. neither cats show signs of wear down.

once it stops raining a bit im going to go outside and give the car a proper go over. and get under there and see what it looks like.

hopefully the pressure loss was somewhere else....but that still leaves me with a red hot resonator...

and yes, i will be looking into getting a new exhaust, but if this happened to this one, who is to say it wont happen again,... i really need to source out the real problem or why its doing that.

thanks
nick

i was on the service road south by ronkonkoma. and then i drove out to sayville along ocean avenue....it indeed could have been debris. thinking about it.

either way i gotta get under there and see in the daylight and without it being red hot, so i can give it a close inspection.

Maybe the car is so rich that the cats broke in half and got lodged in the resonator?

I was going to say I thought the material in the CAT broke off and got stuck before the resonator, which then caused the back pressure and cracked there...you gotta take the whole thing off and look in there.

Well they are working on the lie at night so you deffinitly could have hit something. Plus the service roads around there a pretty bad with dips and all so you could have bottomed out enough to hit it.

Did you just drive by the Sears mall in east northport a few minutes ago ? I think I saw you.

if its red hot theres definatly a problem, somethings gota be jammed up in there to cause the excesive heat. Im going with the idea that one of your cats broke and pieces of it are in the exhaust now.

I just read it over again and noticed that you said you lost back pressure and was stalling out. If you lost back pressure you would only spool up faster, it definitly sounds like you have increased back pressure.
