Well I was thinking since we use a DSM turbo, wouldnt using a DSM intercooler be sick too! lol Well im talking about these




Its a one sided FMIC, being our cars TB and Turbo Outlet are so close together (On ZPI kits) I figured a FMIC like this would result in a little less "lag" and less pressure drop.
What do you guys think? I think it would look sweet two being its different looking... If ZPI or Dezod would like to comment on this please do.

 

What about making a side mount? I am thinking this may be a fix for the SC Intercooler.. I am sure there is enough room to put a stock DSM side mount where people have there CAI sitting.. And to make it even more useful, you can run some ducting from the hole in the front fender to surround the sidemount..

I think this would work since we dont need a huge FMIC for the S/C....

Hehe you know me!! Ill be the first to try it I don't care, But yes I figured it would cut down alot of unneeded pipe work. The only downside to it is that these things are huge! They are 3" thick 24" wide and like 12" tall I dont now how weird it would look on the tC... We will see.

 

Prolly look pretty F'in sick IMO..

 

How much does that intercooler cost?

 

Im actually using an intercooler very similair to that on my turbo setup. They key is to use a downflow intercooler instead of a cross flow. Not only are they much more effcient but on my kit, it keeps the pipes from running next to the downpipe, thus reducing heat soak and IAT's and it cuts intercooler piping down quite a bit. Its tricky to get the pipes to run in and out the same side with the stock bumper, but it can, and has been done.

Are they all bar and plate types?

If that first design is a bar and plate it'll be my favorite. More vanes, shorter vanes, less piping, more logic. It simply makes too much sense to me, love it!

 

I had one of those intercoolers before and I didnt like it one bit had my turbo shop give me a traditional intercooler instead.

what makes you say that? the supercharger produces very hot air temperatures.
maybe thats just my experience though

 

We run an intercooler like that with our D17 kit. All of the piping is routed passenger side of engien bay. ABS, A/C and P/S components clutter the Driver side.

 

I wish there was an intercooler that would fit like this.
