Default Primary o2 delete

Ok I'm really tired of having to replace my front o2 which costs like $200 everytime. I was pondering on the idea of removing the o2 completely and running strait off the map sensor on the fic. Is this possible with fic? Has anyone ever done this on FIC? Or even ultimate?

Ive ran mine before with no primary 02. It just means youll have no fueling correction so your tune will have to be PERFECT. And odds are youll have to retune it every time the weather changes or you go between E10 and regular gas along with about a million other factors that change over time. I strongly discourage it. I only ran mine like this for a few weeks while I was waiting to buy a new 02 sensor back when my car was my daily. Also FWIW, if youre nuking 02 sensors all the time, you have another problem. Its prob either too close to the turbo, or youre burning oil through the hotside of the turbo. Ive ran the same 02 sensor for a long time now with 400-500+whp.

fully agree with the dawg...so far iv had 2 primary o2 sensors (one that came on the car and a used one I got from a friend of mine). I still dont think my first one was bad.

I'm pretty sure mines too close to the turbo. I know AEM calls for the uego sensor to be as far back as where the seconday o2 sensor goes. I'm probably gonna get a bung placed right before the s pipe. Right now my o2 is about 6 inches away from the turbine

Yeah mines almost at the bottom of my downpipe. Also EGT's with E85 are typically 100+* lower than with pump gas, so that could be helping me also.

That's the only thing that could cause it. My tune is spot on, and my turbo is pretty dang new. And it's all set up correctly.

I have been doing this for 3 years on my tC

If you do not have the capability to tune the car yourself dont do it.

without a primary o2 sensor, that tune better be FLAWLESS. I ran it for a while and enjoyed the open loop freedom, but the weather changes were too much to handle!

yea, ive tuned mine myself the last 3 times. closed loop is a little iffy, but im getting better. all my friends suck at having a steady foot, and traffic in chicago is ridiculous, so street tuning is extremely annoying. but i have a ZPI setup so its pretty easy. i figured that would be a good kit to learn how to tune. start at 5 psi and go from there.

i couldnt have asked for a better answer though. thanks everyone!

Installing a copper heat sink on your AFR sensor might help. I've only gone through 1 sensor in 30k miles but I figure it couldn't hurt. It's on my to-do list. Here's an example:
