Default problems since the sc install

ok so i installed the sc on my 06 last weekend and took it to the dealer to reflash... well yea i drove on it without the reflash but not hard or anything... anyways my cel came on and the dealer told me before they did the reflash that i had a faulty a/f sensor and it was gonna cost 460 to change that out... i know for a fact that they are only 230 bucks cause im on my second one due to stripping the old one when i changed my header.

right now the sc is working fine but at idle (car stopped completely) it drops down to 500 and up too 1000 rpm's and its shaky and seems like its going to die.

is that the af sensor problem or something else?... i dont want to buy that part if that isnt the problem

dealer said that the af sensor was throwing that code causing the CEL...

thanks for the help in advance

I can guarantee you that dealer would not refer to it as a/f sensor. Its either o2 or MAF.

o2 sensor would not be affected by boost.

MAF could be but shouldn't be.

Did you take the o2 out of your header?

How careful were you with the MAF? These things are extremely easy to damage.

they said that the a/f sensor was faulty when they checked why my cel was on... i did drive it without the trd tune to the dealership(30 miles)

maf i was really careful i disconnected it then took it out and moved it to the workbench inside my garge out of the way.. nothing touched it.

There is no such thing as an A/F sensor on the tC. Take it to another dealer for a second opinion.

i say make sure its not your secondary o2 sensor first... go to autozone and have them read the code for youthey will tell you which one it is. you might just be throwing the code because of the header. you shouldn't be having problems with your primary o2 sensor yet.

it could also be your maf.. a dirty or bad maf sensor and cause a rough idle like you describe

Mine is doing that same problem with the idle. I am running the 9.5lb pulley, so that might be part of it. Later this week they are wide banding and Emanging the car, so hopefully that will take care of it.

I just had to replace my sensor today. Freaking original wire melted onto my exhaust manifold. You still interested in the gauge pod? GL on fixing your problem though.

does it stall on cold startup, and then starts up no prob? If so, this is a known (but unacknowledged by TRD) of the S/C on auto.

Get your sensor problem fixed first. You are stabbing in the dark. As someone else already mentioned, pull the code yourself to determine the issue.

^ so it isnt just mine that has a little harder time starting when its a bit chilly outside.
the explaination i got was since it is colder the air is denser and the a/f is leaner such and such that kinda talk mess~

Just for future reference for the front 02/afr sensor (wideband) heres a link to buy one for $95 It works great - its what im using in my car right now - ive gone through 2 sensors due to a turbo oil leak i had causing oil to cover the outside of the sensor

If the auction is closed look under the ebay seller he always has these for sale for the same price
