racing headers and S/C

My tc has a S/C and I seealot of aftermarket racing headers out there will any of these headers fit with having a S/C already installed I just cant tell if there is going to be enoug room for this header or if the supercharger is going to be in the way please help thanks alot tc veterans

you have to remove the main s/c to make it fit easier. From what i've seen with my friends, installing a header on a s/c is hella hard because of space issues.

Removing the actual S/C itself will save you a headache.

AcidDrop 03-18-2009 09:21 PM

installing headers with the S/C on is easy if you know what your doing and using the right tools, DC sports-DME-MonsterMotorWorks-Strup- and some Megan that don't have a runner up will fit without a problem. done plently of header swaps with the S/C in place and it gets easier everytime. :P

i am actually lookin at doing the same thing with either a JVT Header or DME.

Acid, do you know if there is a DIY write-up on how to make the swap w/o removing the supercharger??

Im sure, eventually i could figure it out, but being as how you have done it multiple times, is there any tricks/tips you have that would help?? Also, do you happen to remember what the required tools are?

Thanks
Dan

Its doable, I've done, if you have all the right tools and some patience it can be done.

svrTc06 03-19-2009 05:01 PM

g2, do you remember what tools you used were??

Also, i forgot to ask earlier, approx. how long for install??

AcidDrop 03-19-2009 07:59 PM

don't know of any DIY but it's pretty much just the same as removing the header as if the S/C wasn't there, only thing when removing and installing is that you have to angle it around especally for the bottom bolt that is above the alternator. top bolts are 12mm, 7/8 is what i use for the o2 sensor and the 2 bottom bolts that hook up with the s-pipe are 14mm. oh yeah the stock header has 2 14mm bolts that are on the block, hope this helps you guys.

can be done... just need alot of PATIENCE! and the right tools of course as stated by Acid Drop...

svrTc06 03-20-2009 03:25 AM

well i dont have a lot of patience, but i do have the right tools im sure, and i never leave a job unfinished, lol. so im gonna do what i gotta do to get it in there with the least amount of work possible :P

maybe i'll do a write-up myself when im doing it.

now this may not be the place to ask, but what about the o2 sensor and CEL light, i know theres ways around it but what way works the best with the supercharger?

thanx for all of the help everyone, its appriciated.

you can buy the weapon-r anti-fouler but why spend $45 on something that might not work because it works for some and others no, just buy 2 spark plugs and drill 1 of them and you got yourself a anti-fouler there that could or could not work like i just said but you will save yourself a few bucks.

It's pretty easy to remove the supercharger assembly though, take off the 3 bolts on the mounting bracket on the snail side, disconnect hoses, loosen the bolt near the pulley side right near the shaft, loosen the belt and bam. Probably would take like 30 minutes to take off the SC.

:)

randyhaines32 04-21-2009 01:17 AM

well install was good one 12mm nut difficulty by alternator but no s/c needing remove and i think it is far enough away from the s/c shaft so there should not be a heat issue on the s/c thanks guys

or you could just take off the s/c belt, loosen the 3 allen bolts on the shaft U-bracket and then the 2 bolts on the pulley side that are on the block, and take off the shaft while leaving the blower where it is. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

has anyone tried taking this with a tsudo header?

It will work, the believe the tsudo header is a copy of the Weapon R one and I've seen plenty of those on a SC tC.

I remember reading that the tsudo/weapon r headers were easier to install from under the car because of the curve in the bottom of the piping. These would be the hardest to install while the sc is still in place.

b52hDUNN 02-18-2010 02:04 PM

I would just take off the supercharger. Only takes 15 minutes max.

ProMark 02-18-2010 02:32 PM

how and how do i do that

b52hDUNN 02-18-2010 02:43 PM

Remove serp belt. Disconnect all of the hoses and oil lines. Then removed all bolts holding the s/c to the block.

sako 02-18-2010 02:44 PM

headers = headache to install... im running mmw headers and im installing a s/c in a couple weeks.. we will see how that turns out, i know a lot of people wrap there headers with something i guess as a guard so it doesnt touch the s/c ?!? correct me if im wrong
