Default Readings from Bypassing PCV -to catch can - wow

Catch can not really needed, I suppose this can be done temporary without one, but I would suggest adding one or at least a good filter. Oil mess for sure if not.

Well, I used an old catch can, too big for what I need, but I tried it anyway. I removed the back left PCV hose and used the intake manifold side for vacuum source to the wastegate. I had to use an adapter to bring down the size of the hose to 1/4" vacuum to the wastegate side.

The PCV valve side, I attached a 3/8 " hose and ran into the catch can and dumped out of the can right under the car with another hose. (I will scavenge later, off the exhaust, not the intake....explain next line)

Results.......Which I really didn't expect

My EGT temp dropped 100 degrees Now at idle, the temp is 525 F and wide open throttle it's 1000. I presume this is because I'm not dumping hot blow-by back into the intake stream. So when I scavenge, I will tap into the exhaust stream keeping my intake stream cool. If I dump the blow-by back into my intake, my intercooler now has to cool 200+ degree added gasses.

My oil temp dropped 20 degrees With synthetic, it would get to 220 and sit for the most part...now it goes to 200 and sits.

It may be in my head, but it seems to run alot nicer as well. I should know more after my daughter gets back. She doesn't know I did anything.

This is why trying odd things 'just to see' is sometimes so valuable.
Interesting results - and promising.
Keep an eye on this over time and let us know.

cool! so you have a hose going from opening on the back of your valve cover into catch can and ftom catch can to the ground? Does your catch can have a filter or you still have the greddy? Wouldn't the hose that vents under the car spill oil on the ground? Great info btw. I need those temps dropped...they make me nervous.

Yup, that's how it's going now. My brother even suggested I cut the end of the hose to a 45 degree andgle (opening face away from air flow) and just driving will offer the venturi effect.....so I did.

I still have the Greddy, but there should be no oil on the ground because the Greddy catches the oil, just hot gasses pass to the down hose from the catch can.

However, the best setup I see is the exhaust scavenging kit seen4ever suggested to offer better venturi effect and draw the gasses out.. Here is a good breakdown of minor parts and how to install it from someone. I don't know if Moroso still sells a kit, but a few bucks and you can make it yourself easy.

I'll do this today and put a filter on the end of the hose. see if it helps. you feel any change in power, now that the air going through intake manifold is a little cooler.
