Default recent track experience

So went to Epping this past weekend to try and dial in my new methanol kit. I was hoping to get my new clutch in before but just didn't happen. first run was a 14.3 w/ a 2k rpm launch. bounced off 2/3 shift (which you can hear) and kinda missed 4th a little.. not to bad. then on my second run, launched at 3k and had massive wheel hop. ran a pathetic 15.02 . back in the pit I found that my engine damper bracket had snapped, the cause for all the wheel hop. so not only do i have to launch under 3k rpm cause of the clutch, but I have to be easy on the throttle in first. needless to say I ran 14.7's the rest of the day. Just got my new Comp clutch from dezod today and a local machine shop is going to make me a new bracket. and for all those who say that meth doesn't do anything untuned, I made 2 passes w/ it off and ran 15.1's. I'd say it's working.

this was the best vid I came up with for the day. its my 14.3 pass. you can all thank my mom for the lack of zoom but overall the car is running great and cant wait to get back to the track and see what I can squeeze out of her.

Meth not working untuned? What did you run BEFORE you had meth injection?

last fall I put down a 14.8, back when the clutch wasn't smoked. all I'm saying is that there was some discussion about meth not working unless you tune for it. I'm just trying to show real life setups. I know a lot of S/C guys aren't running a custom tune. Next to come is a EGT gauge and keep track of how the meth is affecting it. and when I feel comfortable, I'll probably get a higher psi pulley.

What kind of trap speeds were you running. You could just post up the time slip to make things easier.

Good times by the way..

14.3 on stock pulley with meth? Thats some decent numbers...get a 9.5 psi NST pulley, get your meth dialed in and say hello to 13's all day long

His profile says he is running the ZPI 9 PSI pulley. Not the stock Pulley.

Mods:
recisionMuffler axle back, TRD Supercharger, Bosch 110 Sport BPV, DC Sports Header, ZPI 9psi pulley, Snow Performance Methanol, TRD high flow air filter, Weapon R engine damper.

What kind of Tires were you using?

We was running 15.1 with nothing more than an exhaust back when the car was N/A'ed. Shaved a little weight, and running 15.1-15.2 in the 1/4.

I would imagine high 14's WITHOUT the meth/water inject on the S/C'er. You DESPARATELY need to work on those 60 foot times....2.8 60 foot, I don't think I have seen a 60 foot time that high.

Practice Young Grasshopper. And Don't DUMP the Clutch..

keep in mind that these are with a slipping clutch. 1-2 shift had to be nice and easy or the clutch will just glaze over. and you must have been looking at the wrong side of the slip cause my worse 60' was 2.426.

as for tires... bfg gforce sport. i had em laying around on my 18's and figured they would be better then my stock rubber. also those 18's arent the lightest wheel/tire combo so could shave some more time by lightening up the rolling mass.

again.. the point of this trip was to see the diff between meth and no meth. the cluch is going in monday and got some more goodies in the mail. my goal is 13's which i see happening in the next month or 2.

^^yeah, misread. My bad. 2.4....Get her down to 2.1 and you definitely will be faster. Your stock rubbers (being 17 and not 18 inch tires) might actually be faster than those 18's you were running. You should try them just for the Hell of it.

What clutch did you get?

to keep it streetable I went with competition clutch stage 2 through dezod. I'm don't foresee me overpowering that unless I decide to switch from s/c to turbo. as for the stock tires... they're junk. i figured I would get overall better numbers w/ more grip. as of right now if i put my foot into it in second, at anything over 3krpm, on dry pavement the tires just let go. I should have new ones on the 17's before next track outing.

Good stuff man. Keep us updated on your progress after the new clutch is in. Hopefully you can get those 60foot times down a bit and get yourself a 13.99
