Default Red E-Brake Light comes on when under boost

When I drive my tC hard and enter boost the red BRAKE light on the dashboard lights up and kind of flickers. I'll be under boost and it will come on, then when I shift and lose boost it will turn off until the boost is built back up.

It seems harmless and totally random but I would like to know if any one else has ever heard of this happening. The e-brake doesn't engage but the light lights up.

Thanks, JOE

that light is also monitoring your brake system. what im thinking is that under-boost, the angle of the car and the acceleration is causing the brake fluid in the reservoir to tilt causing the light to come on. i would check your brake pads. if they are fine, i dont know how this could happen but you could possibly have a short somewhere!

Wow, thanks guys. That was definitely a fast response. I couldn't find it searching but maybe this was even in the car manual. I guess this can be locked up.

When my front pads were low the fluid in the reservoir was low enough to trigger the light under acceleration. I changed pads and it went away. It is a nice little warning to let you know your pads are getting low. This can also be fixed by adding more fluid to your reservoir.

thats the common mis-conception! if you add fluid, then your putting a band-aide on the problem. (a)you dont know your pads are worn, (b) when you go to compact the caliper piston, the fluid might leak out making a mess especially since that ____ eats paint, and (c) the brake system is closed like the blood in your body, if you have to add fluid, you either have worn pads or a leak and that problem should definitely be addressed before it turns into a serious problem
