rev limiter

Default rev limiter

yo whats up everyone, i just had my car tuned and i took of the rev limiter, now i dont want to over rev even with the rev limiter over, what would be the best RPM time to shift at?? with the rev limter off 7000? or was it just stupid to even take it off

Yea, 6500rpm is perfectly fine, try and keep it at that. What where your dyno #'s?

i dont know i will let u know tomorrow, beucase the guy that did the tune for me left the shop when i went to pick up the car and he had the dyno sheet so im go by tomorrow and get it

unless you did some major mods to lighten the rotating parts i dont think its a good idea. it might be fine now but if you rev it above 6500 a lot you will be asking for problems down the road.

I'd love to de-stroke my motor to a 2.1-2.2 and bring it to 7500 on a daily basis lol... Talk about major engine work.

Why wold you want to de-stroke your engine? The size of the engine has nothing to do with its capabilities to rev high... length of piston travel, valve train capabilties etc

Well yes that's why I said length of piston travel, but he is just talking about bore of the engine. I didn't think he really understood the term.

He is talking about a shorter throw crank, so he can rev higher. Not bore.

Correct. I said stroke, not displacement in general. The stroke on a tC is fairly long which translates to high piston speeds.
