BEST AIM TROUBLESHOOTING EVER
ifeeldope-aen
furi kuri spice- olahalo
ifeeldope (11:17:18 PM): it's nto the BOV
Furi Kuri Spice (11:17:21 PM): ?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:17:23 PM): tune?
ifeeldope (11:17:29 PM): nope
ifeeldope (11:17:31 PM): well acutally
Furi Kuri Spice (11:17:35 PM): it never happened until i changed bov
ifeeldope (11:17:36 PM): i read it agin really quick
ifeeldope (11:17:37 PM): and it is
ifeeldope (11:17:38 PM): haha
ifeeldope (11:17:41 PM): it's the BOV
ifeeldope (11:17:44 PM): it's not a big deal though
Furi Kuri Spice (11:17:53 PM): shuts off every now and then
Furi Kuri Spice (11:17:57 PM): revs by itself
ifeeldope (11:18:00 PM): when i slam clutch in, m car dips to 600 then goes up and then goes to normal
ifeeldope (11:18:04 PM): you know what
ifeeldope (11:18:07 PM): cuz i love you
ifeeldope (11:18:09 PM): i'll make you
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:10 PM): mine goes wwayyyyy up
ifeeldope (11:18:14 PM): a recirc fitting for our BOV.
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:21 PM): i love you too hieueue
ifeeldope (11:18:24 PM): hahah
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:30 PM): but the type s is wierd
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:33 PM): hard to make a fitting
ifeeldope (11:18:34 PM): i'll make you a recirc fitting man
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:36 PM): no threads
ifeeldope (11:18:38 PM): hmmm
ifeeldope (11:18:41 PM): lemme see it please
ifeeldope (11:18:46 PM): can you find a picture?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:18:46 PM): find a pic 1 sec
ifeeldope (11:18:50 PM): k
ifeeldope (11:19:49 PM): oh
ifeeldope (11:19:55 PM): you should have seen the problems ive been having though
Furi Kuri Spice (11:19:59 PM): just kind of awhole
ifeeldope (11:20:01 PM): 1. my injector ring split apart
Furi Kuri Spice (11:20:13 PM): what is and injector ring
ifeeldope (11:20:14 PM): and then it spewed fuel out of the injector
Furi Kuri Spice (11:20:16 PM): the little condom thing
ifeeldope (11:20:23 PM): and all around the engine bay
ifeeldope (11:20:26 PM): the little oring
ifeeldope (11:20:29 PM): on the top of the injector
ifeeldope (11:20:37 PM): that split in half and sprayed all over the engine bay
ifeeldope (11:20:41 PM): tha'ts the reason for the fire
ifeeldope (11:20:45 PM): and then
ifeeldope (11:20:48 PM): my exhaust leak
ifeeldope (11:20:51 PM): holy ____
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:01 PM): where
ifeeldope (11:21:02 PM): my exhaust leak caused my car to die EVERY time i pushed the clutch in
ifeeldope (11:21:07 PM): before o2 senso
ifeeldope (11:21:07 PM): r
ifeeldope (11:21:12 PM): before downpipe actually
ifeeldope (11:21:15 PM): two bolts fell out
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:26 PM): you drove it when it was blown?
ifeeldope (11:21:33 PM): no
ifeeldope (11:21:38 PM): this was while i was in vegas
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:41 PM): lmao
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:41 PM): http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...-8&sa=N&tab=wi
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:49 PM): haha, you get the pic, literally
ifeeldope (11:21:55 PM): oh dude
ifeeldope (11:21:59 PM): you dont' even need to make a fitting
Furi Kuri Spice (11:21:59 PM): guess it wouldnt be too hard
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:03 PM): just like the one i gave u
ifeeldope (11:22:06 PM): just get a 1 inch vac hose
ifeeldope (11:22:10 PM): and fit it around that
ifeeldope (11:22:16 PM): and then get sombody to weld something
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:26 PM): how will that improve it?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:29 PM): explain it
ifeeldope (11:22:37 PM): hold on
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:38 PM): so it blows the air back into the intake
ifeeldope (11:22:39 PM): i gotta think
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:43 PM): b4 the sensor?
ifeeldope (11:22:44 PM): and im peeling an orange
Furi Kuri Spice (11:22:58 PM): so the sensor pics up the air and knows what to do>
Furi Kuri Spice (11:23:04 PM): oranges are good
ifeeldope (11:23:23 PM): i havn't had fruit since i moved here
ifeeldope (11:23:24 PM): anwyays
ifeeldope (11:23:30 PM): the recirc
ifeeldope (11:23:41 PM): you want to put it after the maf sensor
Furi Kuri Spice (11:23:46 PM): k
ifeeldope (11:23:57 PM): because our maf sensor is after the turbo
ifeeldope (11:24:06 PM): it measures the air that goes intot he engine
Furi Kuri Spice (11:24:18 PM): well ya technically
Furi Kuri Spice (11:24:21 PM): k
ifeeldope (11:24:25 PM): and if it were tobe let out
ifeeldope (11:24:28 PM): ok
ifeeldope (11:24:33 PM): lemme rephrase
Furi Kuri Spice (11:24:36 PM): lol
ifeeldope (11:24:42 PM): our system is a closed circuit system
Furi Kuri Spice (11:24:44 PM): i told u im dont know anything
ifeeldope (11:24:50 PM): that means all air is measured going in
ifeeldope (11:24:57 PM): and used up in the engine
ifeeldope (11:24:58 PM): like
ifeeldope (11:25:05 PM): on stock system
Furi Kuri Spice (11:25:06 PM): k
ifeeldope (11:25:15 PM): air goes into the intake pipe
ifeeldope (11:25:28 PM): and goes past the maf senor then throught he throttle body
Furi Kuri Spice (11:25:39 PM): y woudl the throttle body be open?
ifeeldope (11:25:39 PM): right?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:25:45 PM): it would be closed
ifeeldope (11:25:50 PM): no
Furi Kuri Spice (11:25:51 PM): you stopped gassing it
ifeeldope (11:25:52 PM): when you gas it
ifeeldope (11:25:56 PM): nono
ifeeldope (11:25:59 PM): you're rushing
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:01 PM): haha
ifeeldope (11:26:01 PM): hold on
ifeeldope (11:26:01 PM): hahah
ifeeldope (11:26:11 PM): air goes through intake into engine
ifeeldope (11:26:12 PM): right?
ifeeldope (11:26:19 PM): passing the maf and throttle body to do that
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:23 PM): ya i know how the engine works lol
ifeeldope (11:26:28 PM): when you let go of gas, it closes throttle body
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:33 PM): yep
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:42 PM): the bov shoots ari
ifeeldope (11:26:43 PM): slamming air against the throttle body, forcing it backwards
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:44 PM): air
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:49 PM): ya ya ya
ifeeldope (11:26:51 PM): past the maf sensor again
ifeeldope (11:26:52 PM): BUT
ifeeldope (11:26:55 PM): on a turbo system
Furi Kuri Spice (11:26:57 PM): ??what?
ifeeldope (11:27:00 PM): yea
ifeeldope (11:27:04 PM): people leave that part out alot
Furi Kuri Spice (11:27:13 PM): its NA
ifeeldope (11:27:19 PM): air takes path of least resistance
Furi Kuri Spice (11:27:21 PM): where is this xtra air coming from
ifeeldope (11:27:24 PM): it's going to go back OUT the filter
Furi Kuri Spice (11:27:25 PM): must be a really small amount
ifeeldope (11:27:30 PM): exactly
ifeeldope (11:27:31 PM): it is.
Furi Kuri Spice (11:27:33 PM): oh
ifeeldope (11:27:34 PM): a very small amount
Furi Kuri Spice (11:27:38 PM): didnt even think about that
ifeeldope (11:27:39 PM): and our ecu counters that
ifeeldope (11:27:50 PM): by pulling a tiny bit of fuel
ifeeldope (11:27:53 PM): but on a turbo
ifeeldope (11:27:58 PM): it's just let out of the BOV
Furi Kuri Spice (11:28:02 PM): ya
ifeeldope (11:28:04 PM): and the maf never reads it
ifeeldope (11:28:06 PM): so
ifeeldope (11:28:08 PM): rich
ifeeldope (11:28:10 PM): rich rich
ifeeldope (11:28:13 PM): and stall
Furi Kuri Spice (11:28:30 PM): so if u recirc it
Furi Kuri Spice (11:28:46 PM): isnt it just going in a circle and not ever hitting the maf and doing the same thing
Furi Kuri Spice (11:28:46 PM): ?
ifeeldope (11:28:49 PM): the air is added back intot he mixture that goes past hte throttle body
ifeeldope (11:28:58 PM): thats what confused me too
ifeeldope (11:29:18 PM): what it's doing is leaning out the mixture just a tiny bit to counter the rich
Furi Kuri Spice (11:29:31 PM): or by the time it gets back you wouldve already gassed it?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:29:36 PM): and its just more air?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:29:36 PM): lol
Furi Kuri Spice (11:29:44 PM): matt logic
ifeeldope (11:29:51 PM): more air metered would be differnet fuel mixture
Furi Kuri Spice (11:30:36 PM): so y does the car rev?
ifeeldope (11:30:45 PM): an attempt to add more air
Furi Kuri Spice (11:30:52 PM): it opens the throttle body a little to make up for the lack of air?
ifeeldope (11:30:53 PM): to keep it from dying
Furi Kuri Spice (11:30:59 PM): oh
ifeeldope (11:31:01 PM): there are a bunch of reasons
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:04 PM): k makes sense
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:19 PM): but what about my badass WWHHOOOSHH
ifeeldope (11:31:27 PM): it's going to be just a
ifeeldope (11:31:28 PM): woosh
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:34 PM): screw it
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:35 PM): haha
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:46 PM): itll sound like a ms3
Furi Kuri Spice (11:31:49 PM): or stock sti
ifeeldope (11:31:53 PM): nah
ifeeldope (11:31:56 PM): its louder
ifeeldope (11:32:01 PM): trust me
ifeeldope (11:32:04 PM): you can hear it
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:05 PM): but what gets me
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:14 PM): is y didnt it do it when i had the rs
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:24 PM): never did it at all
ifeeldope (11:32:25 PM): you had compresser surge
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:33 PM): who
ifeeldope (11:32:36 PM): you
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:40 PM): like the bov stayed open?
ifeeldope (11:32:42 PM): no
ifeeldope (11:32:44 PM): closed
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:45 PM): whats a compressor
Furi Kuri Spice (11:32:48 PM): haha
ifeeldope (11:33:00 PM): compresser is the silver turbine housing on turbo
ifeeldope (11:33:04 PM): if bov doesnt let air out
ifeeldope (11:33:08 PM): tehn it goes and spins it backwards
ifeeldope (11:33:13 PM): and it makes the flutter sound
ifeeldope (11:33:19 PM): whih you had
ifeeldope (11:33:23 PM): unless you were full boost
Furi Kuri Spice (11:33:41 PM): when the hell did that happen>
Furi Kuri Spice (11:33:42 PM): ?
ifeeldope (11:33:53 PM): am i wrong?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:34:05 PM): so ur saying my bov didnt work once and now its causing all this ____?
ifeeldope (11:34:11 PM): no
Furi Kuri Spice (11:34:11 PM): no that would happend
ifeeldope (11:34:13 PM): im saying
Furi Kuri Spice (11:34:17 PM): but y wouldnt it open
ifeeldope (11:34:18 PM): whats happening now
ifeeldope (11:34:20 PM): is a good thing
ifeeldope (11:34:29 PM): whts happening now means that everyhting is working properly
Furi Kuri Spice (11:34:46 PM): what makes u say i had a surge
Furi Kuri Spice (11:34:50 PM): then
ifeeldope (11:34:54 PM): cuz i put it on mine
ifeeldope (11:34:57 PM): and compresser surge
ifeeldope (11:34:58 PM): bad
ifeeldope (11:34:59 PM): haha
Furi Kuri Spice (11:35:09 PM): huh
ifeeldope (11:35:10 PM): but only when i was pushing 5 pounds
ifeeldope (11:35:15 PM): at 10 it would open just fine
ifeeldope (11:35:17 PM): the BOV
Furi Kuri Spice (11:35:26 PM): that thing openned all the time
Furi Kuri Spice (11:35:37 PM): i wouldnt even be gassing it and it would open a little and whistle
ifeeldope (11:35:39 PM): did it flutter?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:35:45 PM): ya
Furi Kuri Spice (11:35:47 PM): i think
ifeeldope (11:35:50 PM): it's not supposed to
ifeeldope (11:35:51 PM): at all
ifeeldope (11:35:55 PM): it's just a big rush of air
Furi Kuri Spice (11:36:15 PM): so its too tight?
ifeeldope (11:36:22 PM): the screw ont eh top
ifeeldope (11:36:25 PM): was too tight
Furi Kuri Spice (11:36:31 PM): i dont think that does anything
Furi Kuri Spice (11:36:32 PM): haha
ifeeldope (11:36:35 PM): it does
ifeeldope (11:36:36 PM): =P
ifeeldope (11:36:43 PM): i had to losen it up all the way
Furi Kuri Spice (11:36:44 PM): you can just take it off
ifeeldope (11:36:46 PM): you had it relly tight
ifeeldope (11:36:47 PM): yea
ifeeldope (11:36:52 PM): and that causes it to open like
ifeeldope (11:36:54 PM): ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the time
ifeeldope (11:36:58 PM): and a huge bosot leask
ifeeldope (11:36:59 PM): boost
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:00 PM): i had it all the way loose
ifeeldope (11:37:06 PM): oh
ifeeldope (11:37:07 PM): then i dunno
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:10 PM): i think i tightened it when i gave it to u
ifeeldope (11:37:14 PM): maybe it's better at keeping pressure
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:18 PM): so i would nt loose it
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:20 PM): idk
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:22 PM): see?
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:25 PM): i know nothing
ifeeldope (11:37:27 PM): -shrug
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:32 PM): i just did my brakes
ifeeldope (11:37:36 PM): haha
ifeeldope (11:37:38 PM): stop man
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:40 PM): and thats when i learned how everyhthing works
ifeeldope (11:37:42 PM): i know you know about cars
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:44 PM): i was like OH!
Furi Kuri Spice (11:37:48 PM): thats the piston
Furi Kuri Spice (11:38:13 PM): i know how the engine works
Furi Kuri Spice (11:38:14 PM): thats about it

Actually what the recirc does is stops air from being pulled thru the intake past the maf and then out the bov... Recirculating doesnt put air in the engine... It stops excess metered air from being pulled into the intake.

Anyway a good tuner should be able to compensate for this... However it is good to recirc because it helps to spool the turbo, and venting should only be used with a 57 trim + turbo running more then 10 psi (imo)...

I have the exact same problem. except somtimes my car dies randomly. i'm only street tuned tho. i've always assumed i had a vac leak untill i got on it and it held 9PSI till redline. so whats the fixt for this? get it re tuned?

That would be my suggestiong... Are you able to retrieve a data log showing wats happening at the point of stall?

Well i guess youll have to wait to get ur hands on one or take it to your tuner... Nothing we can do without that info.

Mine is doing the exact same thing as Syldrin posted...my afrs go from 10.8-16.9 every now and then when I stop and try to idle I was watching the boost gauge and noticed the vac jumps a bit too. but I've checked everything and no leak. Plus the car will cold start fine and idle just not after I have been driving a while. I also was curious the other day and when it was bouncing in the rpms I turned my defroster on to put more load on the engine and it leveled the rpms out. once I turned it off they started bouncing again.

ya my AFRs go crazy. i thought it was because some knuckle head ruined my old O2 sensor. i replaced that sensor and it didn't fix it. now i'm worried if i damaged somthing.

Is there a lumpy idle or bad vac (needle jumping around in vacuum)?

How does the car idle once warm? and have you checked the blow by or done a compression test?

Just reading this and as I stated before. when I do a cold start my car idles fine. It isn't until I start really driving my car and boosting the the idle starts to jump and makes the car stall every so often.

I wonder if, since Syldrin is venting to atmosphere, that the BOV is not closed all the way at idle. An air leak after the MAF may cause this.

my car has always sat at -19.5. i don't think it's because i'm venting to atmosphere gary. i've tried cranking the bov all the way down and it still does it. when the car is cold it idles fine. i'm thinking it's just my tune...... hoping it's just my tune. if i broke somthing it's definatly going up for sale.
