When I did my install, we were going to wait until Sunday morning to do the oil pan, but we decided to do it while it was pitch black outside to let it cure properly on Saturday night. That's something that you DO NOT want to leak, give it the proper 24 hours to cure. Do things right the first time and you'll save yourself tons of headaches in the future, DON'T take shortcuts.

Make sure the surfaces are completly clean and use break cleaner to degrease before putting the rtv on. Use a small bead don't use excessive amounts they will get in your oil and clog the strainer or get on the crankshaft journals and clog passages if you aren't careful and have lead to engine failure. I would put a small bead on the pan let sit for ten minutes or so then bolt it up.
