Default S/C Installed toady HELP!!

Hey SL,

I need some "expert" advice because my dealer doesnt know "much" about S/C.

Long story short and two days later, I pick up my 08 tC with a supercharger install, TRD told me 8 hours... anyway, when I was driving down the freeway a lound clank and I look in my rearview mirror and see something black (not 100% sure from my car) I get off work and when I accellerate on my way home I hear a squeak when I accellerate or push the clutch or come to a stop.

Called dealer - they said no problems come in tomorrow

Continue driving and I hear a rattle when I accelerate not sure what this is caused by, so loud squeaks and a random rattle when i drive. What could this be?

(Called TRD they are going to be investigating the dealer) if it craps out its on the dealer.

Are the squeaks and rattles normal with a S/C or is it my dealer?

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the long post!

Bad install is my guess. Expect your car back at a different dealer trying to fix everything that the first dealer just broke!

^^^ I agree with Chris.

I ended up back at the dealer 2 weeks after install because it was their first install & they overtorqued the bearing & broke it which then started all sorts of squeaking & sputtering noises. It sounded like something was knocking from underneath my hood.

they disconnected your battary, which means all your stuff has to be reset, like the windows and sun roof and radio settings.

but a quick fix...it sounds like there are alot of things they could have done wrong.

my advice to you, call the local toyota dealerships and ask them how many superchargers they have installed and take it to one of the more experienced ones.

Thanks for the feedback, the sunroof just irked me a little, I just hope I dont ruin the S/C or the engine while driving it tomorrow, before they installed it they told me they knew what they were doing... but later they said they knew very little about them. i cant wait to get it running right, cause before the squeaks and rattles, it seems like it can get up and go!

don't worry, it is all covered by your powertrain warranty, if the engine is ruined, they gotta replace it.

No your not Ty. I would do the same, that way you can be ruled out for any blame.

Not like engine knocking, more like door knocking on my hood, it wasn't from the motor. Plus, this was over a year ago and no problems since, haha.

Got the car back today and its all good to go! They informed me the belt was not tightned enough and the rattle was from the catalytic converter, which only had one bolt on that was hand tightned... they forgot about it during install.. I am glad this ordeal is over with! Thanks again for the feedback!

I was originally quoted 750-800 for the S/C install.
