damn, they are like 3500...well i still have 5 months to decide which one i want

 

you 100% need to get tuned w/ the cams - cams really really change the way the car idles and performs ..... anybody who says you might not to get retuned knows very little about cams

 

can you get new cams for a turbocharged?

 

If you're complaining about the cheapest turbo kit being 3500, don't even look into cams.

like someone mentioned... cams change the way your car runs... the idle.. everything. your not tuning for cams.. your basically making adjustments to your current tune in order for you to see the gain you want for the money you spent.

also.. about the Turbo Toyota kit.... i know Todd had a car show this past week end, and i actually talked to him Friday night and he was running around like a mad man trying to get everything finished up in time. so if he didn't get back to you last week, that is probably why. i'll let him know your inquring about the Basik kit, but you might also want to shoot him another email.

 

yea but say you have a piggy back which adjusts fuel and whatnot

what woudl you adjust? i can't see it affecting fuel and air flow...

 

It changes when the valves open/close and duration. That directly affects fuel and airflow. Save yourself $1200 and don't get cams. You have an Automatic tC, therefore you're very limited in power before you run into big problems with the tranny. The only reason to go for cams, would be if you did a full rebuild, including valves, springs, spring retainers, etc.

If you're looking for mid 200, with decent reliability, and having the car feel like it runs normally (cam'd cars have extremely rough idles), then yes. A basik turbo kit will be just fine.

 

ook, well i just plan on doing that then, and further down the line rebuild the engine and stuff

what is ur thing with cams anyway ? have u ever driven a car with aftermarket cams ? i used to have an integra with toda vtec killers and they are not streetable at all they sound like the car is running like ____ idleing. but they made the car what it was.

 

well if i get a supercharger i wanted to get it up to at least 240hp, but i might be goin with the dezod or turbotoyotas kit, so i wont need them, but i am undecided still

 

im in the same boat you are man. but after being around some of the kits out there. i have personal experience with the dezod turbo kit. its not a bad kit or anything but the quality of the turbo toyotas is unmatched. there quality and kits look like they were meant for our cars. the manifolds are sick and you have a better foundation to build upon on.
