Scottsdaletc - Dezod Turbo *Dyno results posted*
Most of you know me and others soon will, the Scionetics tC theme supports the manufactures that have supported SCION. The tC for the last year featured factory SCION options such as Full TRD suspension parts, shifter, lights, AEM/DC Sports intakes/exhaust, Bridgestone Fuzion ZR1 tires and Enkei 7 spoke rims. Though not a factory option, a very large supporter of Toyota Racing is Kaminari who has supported the community unconditionally.
The infancy of the SCION community is no-longer, it is now time to move on to the next level. I am looking to join the ranks of those that have ventured before me. As a role model in representation and presentation in the SCION community, it is my goal to present performance products across all SCION platforms with performance options and upgrades.
Under an alias I have researched several companies over the last several months, I have carefully watched online interaction, company online presence, product presentations, technologies, emailed response times, phone support, call backs, product knowledge and support mechanisms to the customer.
As most of you know the turbo for the tC has been a long time coming and I am ecstatic to announce that I have selected Dezod Motorsports to fulfill the forced induction requirements for it.
The tC will feature Dezod’s T.E.A. Turbo system, which is complete with intercooler, engine management, fuel and a host of other features offered by the Dezod team. The kit comes pre-tuned, which makes it virtually a turn-key solution out of the box and to expand upon. With the need for more power being inevitable, Rich at Dynocomp will re-tune the system more aggressively for added performance.
The turbo in the T.E.A. kit is an upgrade from their Stage 1 system. The use of this system over a Stage 1 will yield some dividends in complimenting the tC’s current stature in the community. The T.E.A. system’s heart and sole lies within the turbocharger itself, which was selected and assembled by the Dezod engineering team, which uses a more aggressive compressor housing to flow more air at any given boost point. It also features a larger turbine A/R which is more peak power oriented. The combination is undoubtedly the ideal recipe for power on the 2AZ platform that we all love so much.
Since Dezod has increased the air flow, of course more fuel becomes inherent. The additional fuel duty is covered with the system’s use of RC 550cc injectors, which are controlled via the GReddy E-manage, and harmoniously strung into the stock ECU with Dezod’s plug-and-play harness. This effectively means that I can preserve all of the OEM wiring without the hassle cutting and splicing.
The system keeps charge temperatures to a minimum with Dezod’s super efficient bar and plate intercooler, which is small enough to retain the OEM crash support beam, without sacrificing power. Therefore, there is no compromise in safety for the glory of boost. (This truly puts me at ease knowing this)
All of Dezod’s turbo solutions feature polished 304 stainless steel pipes, which prevent rust and unsightly common wear. All of the piping in the system, including the downpipe, is mandrel bent and TIG welded for additional strength. The downpipe also has oxygen bungs welded into place to retain the stock sensor positions, and is then topped off with a spring loaded bolt assembly to help reduce stress due to added engine movement under boost. (This assembly ensures that pipes and welds will not break under intense abuse) Lastly, the Dezod downpipe assembly includes an added bonus of a 2.5” s-pipe, which we all know is a large restriction on the system. Overall, an effective solution for unused exhaust gas exiting in a hurry.
Boost is regulated via the wastegate, which Dezod’s choice of TiAL Sports. TiAL is the priemere wastegate manufacturer in the automotive industry, and provides proven products for several applications including the Porsche GT2 Twin Turbo application at Daytona 24 Hour Race.
The additional boost left in the pipes, after I had let off the throttle is relieved by the blow off valve. This is the job for the HKS SSQ blow-off valve, which is a dual stage pull-type relief valve. It is unlike push type blow-off valves and will not leak under any level of boost. This makes it a great candidate for higher boosting applications.
All necessary bolts, fittings, 4 ply silicone couplers, t-bolt clamps, and pretty much everything imaginable are packaged, and included with the kit. With over 26 individual pieces of hardware alone, it makes me wonder if the guys at Dezod miss a beat?
The installation will be featured on SCION Life step by step as the Turbo installation progresses. I will also be featuring dyno results and videos from Dynocomp, Richard has always tuned the tC on past projects. I would look for many more Dezod Motorsports featured products coming to the market place. I would hope that everyone joins me in this venture to further grow the SCION community.
Please look for the tC at SEMA as it is a featured vehicle on the show floor.

Intermission: Before proceeding on to the rest of the photos please enjoy a brief moment of my recent trip to Hawaii, note the tranquil blue waters awash your now bulging eyes with a soothing sensation and as your now racing heart settles upon the calming ocean amidst ones desires. With Intermission almost over please take this moment to compose yourself, allow your blood pressure to recede to a measurable level and wipe the drool from your chin.

Nice Choice. I cant wait to see the progress and pictures posted here for everyone to see. Hoping that you also post video clips as well. Good luck with everything and enjoy your kit. BTW, what type of clutch will you be using?

The picture was one taken by after9envents several weeks ago when they used the tC for the Import vs Domestic flyers. This is not the best one of the tC, I’m losing! The other one is not online but looks much better.

As to the Clutch, I guess I can let the cat out of the bag and off topic for just a moment. I will be using a Competition Clutch. I contacted Melissa several weeks ago on a clutch for the tC, CC has the parts in house, just no real R&D and a test car to confirm what they believe they had in house. I put Melissa in contact with Kenny at ZPI, long story short, Melissa built the clutch and Kenny has the prototype clutch and it fits. CC has been waiting several weeks for final confirmation from Kenny, as of last week he has not gotten back with her.
I will have the clutch shortly, it should be installed for the Dyno runs and SEMA. As soon as I have the production version from CC I will do a separate post on the clutch with lots of pictures.
Until then back on topic.

Yes Nick that would be you, el-video extraordinaire,
as we talked about at SCION Invasion. I want to get some video of the tC, the wireless mics in the reverse cowl of the Kaminari hood should have a good pickup for the intake and blow off. A boom would be great if we can rig it.
The intercooler and piping is back from AZ powder coating no later than Wednesday, and Paul has the rest of the system on the way now for arrival early in the week.
Andy from HPautoworks will be doing the installation, Andy is anticipating the install and I will need to get with him next week on a time to have this done. I will keep you posted with as much lead time I can on it.

Glad you made an educated decision on who to go with, but all you had to do was ask haha!
