Default Should I Boost it?

hey guys, i have an 07 scion tc and i have done pretty much every bolt on there is, next going lightweight flywheel and maybe a performance valvetrain. i would go all internals but i know i am not going to gain nearly as much if i was boosted. however, this is my daily driver and i just hit 80k miles today. should i just go ahead an boost it? i know that if i was going to, i figure tuning in down to around 4psi would be good for my DD and im not sure if i want to spend 4-5 thousand dollars to have 4 psi, but im still very undecided and im asking everyone here for their advice.

can you afford several thousand dollars and to be without your car for a month or possibly longer if something hits the fan? If no, then no, don't boost it.

I actually have been asking myself that same question. I have heard that if you’re not going over 12 psi your fine and nothing could go wrong but on the other hand I have heard that any boost and you might as well buy a new engine.
I know with any boost there is risk and extra maintenance. I think we just need some info from people that have lived with their rides being turbo charged. I have been looking into Descendant’s kit and they look good, but I have also heard PTuning kits are pretty good.

it is all about the tune and how much power you make. mine is a stock engine running 14 psi and making over 300 whp. but I have a second car, and steady income so if anything goes wrong with it, I can afford downtime and repairs.

basically, if you can't afford to put another engine in your car, you shouldn't boost it.

At 94k on my tc on a turbonetics kit at lbs and she's fine. Don't do it cheap. Remember things come up where u will need the cash. Be smart about it if u know it will be fine with ur finances then do it. U will never drive a non turbo car ever again!

im about to go boost also with the dezod s1 kit.....planning on doing about 9 psi which would get me about 300 whp...i could bump it up to 10 psi and get 330 whp, like others said just make sure you got money on the side just in case, cause you never know,i mean if you beat on the car everyday, then yea its not gonna last, but if you boost here and there a little bit on the week days then have fun on the weekends then youll be fine, but the main thing is maintaince..

Im running 10lbs as a daily driver and love it. But I have a backup if I blew something... having the money is the biggest thing id say.. frequent oil changes, other parts you'll need during install(trust me....you are going to need parts you didn't expect). I say boost it but expect something to go wrong ahead of time. Im ordering bottom end parts now so I can have them and then get the cash for labor for the install.

There is only one supercharger for the tC, and at this point, you'll only be able to get your hands on a used one. and they're very problematic, especially getting all the parts for them. You'd be better off with the turbo kit.

My advice would be to buy a good kit and run about 7-8 psi that's around 250 hp just perfect for what you want 4 psi is just not worth the money or effort that's only 200 hp on a real dyno

Ya, that's what I'v been thinking, just enough to make it a lot of fun. So what do you mean by cheap parts breaking? So I can plan for it. Where did you get your kit?

I custom made my kit with eBay parts so I had a lot of blow. Turbo seals luckily I do all my work my self and rebuild turbos , also have went through a eBay clutch and a clutch masters that I bought used, just make sure you get a good kit and have some one who knows what they are doing tune it
