Default Should i run a turbo??

I was thinking of buying a turbo kit on my 05 scion but i already have almost 62,000 miles driven on it. i dont know if this is a good idea. i was also woundering what upgrades i can do to assure my engine does not blow. i was thinking of buying the turbonetics kit.

*puts flamesuit on you* Use the search button.

As long you changed your oil and such regularly, then you should be fine. Upgrades actually increase chances of your engine blowing, well, some of them, haha. But, yea, I would pick a supercharger with that kind of miles, but then again, I hate the supercharger.

Engine management is the most crucial to having a successful turbo kit. Gauges too actually.

its a toyota engine, 62 thousand miles is nothing. i would only worry about f/i on a toyota engine once you are over like 130 k.

On Toyotas, you're just barely breaking in the motor at 62K miles. The only time you should be worrying about the integrity of the motor is when you are totally abusing it on a daily basis and neglecting the normal maintenance (oil changes and such...)

I threw a 100 shot of nitrous onto my SE-R back in the day and the only thing that went bad was my clutch, which was expected considering the additional torque and the fact that the car had slightly over 60K miles on it when I added that shot.

As long as you don't go crazy on the boost, you should be good to go.

Just like most great things, moderation is key...

that shouldn't even be a question in my opinion, go for a turbo, i went custom but i would recommend going with dezod since people that have them are satisfied with dezod. just make sure you get emanage and gauges especially boost & wideband, i got all aem on mine i got tru boost, wideband, & oil pressure.

good luck on the boostin' keep us posted on what you decide!

No. Did it come from the factory with one? NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS, Just because they make one for a car does not mean you should do it. Buy a car that has one from the factory.

Well... he asked for opinions. If you are so offended by my opinion why post when I was not talking to you?

Because your dont know what the hell your talking about.
This statement is filled with falsities. \/
"NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS, Just because they make one for a car does not mean you should do it. Buy a car that has one from the factory."

Thats really the dumbest thing I have read in a while on SL. The forced induction section used to be a place where people came when they had legitimate questions or valid opinions. Now its become a haven of "oh should i turbo my car (no offense to OP) or help me decide to get a supercharger or turbo". Its rubbish. You making blanket statements about how turbos are so horrible for engines unless they are from the factory is doing nothing in this situation. Apparently you were asleep but the tC can get a factory Vortech Blower which is essentially a Turbo on a stick.
I have seen you post nothing useful in this section, nor have you really done anything up to this point to make an impact on scionlife except for saying that Turboing a car is absolutely pointless. I want you to do me a favor, and if you feel that way stay out of the forced induction section. You have no business being here.

Doors that way. ------------->

Well since I know nothing. You have been a member for almost three years. If your car is so cool why no pictures? You probably do not even have one. And if you do show me how cool it is. Anger Management classes you should take one, or get on some meds.

Theres more somewhere, I just dont know where. I dont like having pictures or anything in my profile mainly because I dont want to deal with it. Oh and here is another fun fact, everything on that car aside from the tires I personally installed myself. How long have you have your tC for? 2 weeks?

Yeah jerk xtC. Is there a problem with it? Only problem here I see is that your 31 years old and driving a car meant for 18-25 year olds.
