Default sneaky exhaust.

so for you guys on here running turbos, ive got a question.

im running a 3 inch pipe catback right now, no resonators. its sounds awful past 3K RPM.

im tired of all the trouble the cops give me about it so im looking to change my setup.

basically i though of two options.

either run the 3 inch to the end of the midpipe and put a turndown there. weld 2 large resonators in and also have a electric cutout right after the s-pipe. as well as leave the stock axle back hanging on but not hooked up so it just looks stock.

OR

run a 3 inch down pipe and s-pipe with the electric cutout right after the s-pipe then fab up a piece to hook it up to the stock midpipe and axel back.

basically im jw if theres a downside to running the stock exhaust with a turbo besides less horsepower...

I am sorry bro. I think you should invest with an axle back exhaust. Like a Greddy SE or similar with that.

Wrong section my friend post in the FI section and you'll get more help in there. Just add a single resonator to it and the cut-off will make it more quiet.

well if your exhaust is too restrictive, your EGT might go up since there is not enough flow to get all the heat out.. it will also cause your cat converted to be destroyed which I dont think you would really care.. you have ptuning exhaust, its design is as nice and efficient so you can get, just add a really good resonator like me.. the first option seems complicated and pretty much does the same thing as simply adding some resonator.. If you wanna go cutout then go with option 2

let me clear some things up.
i sold the ptuning exhaust.
im running a custom 3 inch straight pipe from the s-pipe back right now.

but i plan on going turbo soon so i want to start my exhaust set up now and make sure i get it right so i dont have to change it later.

i pretty much plan on driving everywhere with the cutout completely open, ill only close it if i see cops.

im re-doing my car this winter to make it more OEM looking because im sick of all the attention it attracts. its just not worth it.

im kind of leaning towards the second option so i dont ever have to run that tiny stock exhaust, at least it will always be 3 inch so i wont mess anything up. im just hoping that 2 resonators will be enough seeing as there will be no kind of muffler, just a turndown.

Why did you not just look into getting the right exhaust in the first place instead of wasting money and changing this and that, and

if your sick of the attention it attracts then it defeats the purpose in you doing what you did anyway.

you find me a thread thats anything like this and ill

ive been through many exhausts, this will be my 4th actually, because ive taken my car in diff directions multiple times. its not uncommon at all for people to change their exhausts.

and defeating the purpose on doing what i did anyway...?
that sentance doesnt even make sense.

thanks for your help.

guys dont mess with the yellow hoodie...lol

yeah bro i ran the stock axle back with a qtp exhoust cutout on my megan mid-pipe. closed i couldnt reach full boost (1-2psi drop). its due to the restriction the stock axle back causes and it doesnt allow the turbo to spool freely. open it was mean and i gained that 1-2psi back with a little more power.

since you have a full custom exhoust i dont think you would want to loose it but doing what i did is prolly one of the easiest ways to keep it silent when you need it and power when you want it.

you got 3 resonators on your ptuning exhaust? thats like 3 resonator plus the ptuning muffler and its still not quiet? i only added one resonator and my exhaust rumble is discrete..

When you install the turbo it quites it down a TON!

install one resonator and the turbo kit.. perfect

3 inch DP to 3 inch s pipe, 3 inch mid pipe with a big resonator, stock axle back, with the cutout after the resonator and before the stock exhaust,

3 inch turboback wont be that loud. It doesnt attract attention. I got more attention from cops with my agency power exhaust then I do with a full 3 inch and open dump tube. But if you must choose one of your options I wold definetly do #2. Open Downpipe wil be HELLA loud tho.
