Just when I think everything is starting to turn around and go my way BAM! I open my hood to find oil on the block under the bracket on the pulley side of the driveshaft, take a closer look oil leaking from the seal between the driveshaft and bracket the pulley attaches too.

Im not gonna cry about it cause I expected it to happen someday but my question is to replace that gasket can I just take off the bracket on that side of the driveshaft or do I have to take apart the whole charger unit to get to that area.

ANY help would be appreciated.

You will most likely have to take apart the whole charger, or atleast the shaft side. I cant really remember, but I do believe you are gonna have to take appart the whole thing.

Doesn't matter.. I believe he has a aftermarket header.. which will probally result in them voiding it.. and if he has the aftermarket pullies too.

 

How would a header void the supercharger warrenty? Aftermarket pullies would do it, but not the header.

 

I beleive the supercharger paper work states that any aftermarket parts added to the engine (header, intakes, pulleys) Voids the Supercharger warranty.
Sucks because I was getting my tC Supercharger ready. Now with all these oil leaks and voided warranties it seems kind of pointless.

 

yeah they say the header voids the warranty because of the lack of a heat shield. The temps get too hot and cause the seals to fail...

 

Yeah, I think somones warranty was already voided due to the heat sheild being removed and an aftermarket part contributing to the excessive heat which ultimately resulted in a blown seal.

 

I believe that is one of the reasons they voided HighlanderMac's warranty...well that and the pulley change.

 

I dunno, I'll let him chime in.. nor do I feel like searching.. but.. with my own personal experiences with Toyota/Scion/TRD, they are a bunch of terds.. they'll try and get you any way possible.

 

I don't know why you people keep calling them turds. They're selling a product. They let you know beforehand that any modding to their product or things like headers will void warranty...and then when you DO mod it you complain. If you disregard their rules (which you clearly know about before you even purchase the supercharger), you can't complain when they disregard the warranty.

That aftermarket mod warranty act has no bearing here because that act clearly states if the supplier/company discloses that moddding will disregard warranty, they are allowed to pull the warranty when you do so.

 

As I stated before I am taking full responsibility for what happened, I just neededto know if I had to take the whole thing apart or what. I looked last night and found the seal by the blower is leaking too so im gonna put my car down for awhile and fix it the right way, wrap the header, fab a heat shield, fix the seals then that should do the trick....hopefully

outcrnru, my post was aimed at stu gotti who was calling trd and toyota/scion turds.

sorry if it seemed like i was bashing on you. good luck getting it taken care of. if you decide to keep the aftermarket header, get them ceramic coated by swain tech, and then if you wish, wrap them up. no need for a heat shield then.

i'm getting my stock headers ceramic coated soon :D

 

Call TRD if you don't believe it. They'll tell you.


Greenbox how's your S/C holding up so far? Did the FIPG work?

 

Ya, I've heard other people claim the "heat will ruin the seals" thing too. Sounds pretty legit, but would be nearly impossible to prove at this point.
