That's not true. The ultimate still does not tune partial throttle /Closed Loop (i know I have it).

I'm surprised you went with the ultimate over the FIC. There has been alot of debate which is better and I think the consensus is for overally funtionality, the FIC is.

I did pose the question to P-Tuning, whom said that the Ultimate was better (when I was thinking about switching), but the kit they came out with uses FIC. So, IDK.

But, they may have been answering in a racing context (where you are in open loop the whole time)

i dunno then. i was told that if you tune the partil throttle close to the fuel trims and all that the comp will not mess with it. so i dunno we will see. if it does happen i dunno i guess i will go to the fic! but i dont think jetlounge had a problem so i dunno?

yeah that what some tuners are saying.. if you tune close to fuel trims then the ecu will not correct it and no cels.. but you can only enrich it so much close to the fuel trims, if you decide a richer partial throttle afr for safety that your fuel trim doesnt allow you then its gonna correct right? still no good control since you can only enrichen as your fuel trim allows which is not so much IMO

Ace,

I haven't been able to install the black box you sent me (got into an accident and lost my car for like a month), but I am about to do it and was wondering how you hook the box up to the computer for tuning purposes. Also, do you have a basemap for it?

Thanks!

The Ultimate can keep your ecu in open loop the entire time by rewiring it to make it this its full thortle. The Ultimate has a lot of options which and be used to get around lil issues like these.

Can you expand on this? I'm very interested as I have Ultimate as well and am looking to tune partial throttle as well?

i was told by a greddy tech before that you can tune with th ultimate in partial throttle. you just press the scroll bar and click on throttle % and tune from there. he says you gotta tune by TPS. for partial throttle. i dunno he may not know much about scions i dunno

I don't know much about the tuning funtionality, but from what I heard the only way to get the system into open loop the entire time is to disconnect the primary o2 sensor. Then tune off that.

Tuning off of TPS is a real dummied down way to tune a main VE table. You want a pressure sensor in the mix especially on a turbocharged app. The ultimate will have a difficult time spoofing the Primary O2 that the tC has. Unless you spend countless hours doing so, which at that point, I'd recommend our standalone. I broke down the cost of each anyway:

This is a break-down of the the UEGO edition of the EMS.

E_manage Ultimate $650
PnP Harness $300
Base Cal $100+
Wideband O2 $220
Pressure Sensor $115
Pressure Sensor Harness $48
Total spent $1433.00

Or, just buy the AEM standalone for $1850. No relearning, 100% control and reliability. Cost difference $417.00

Plus with the standalone you get all these other goodies:

# VVT-i Control
# Anti-Lag Turbo Control (2 Styles!)
# 2 Step Launch Control (perfect launches everytime!)
# Programmable Traction Control
# Can Control Boost (with an electronic solenoid)
# Definable Cut Rev Limiters
# Definable Knock Control
# Fuel Table Automapping
# Closed Loop O2 Sensor Feedback (when used with a wideband)
# Wet & Dry Nitrous Control
# Idle Control
# 4 EGT Inputs with Fuel Control
# Individual Cylinder Fuel & Ignition Control
# Fan control

open the box and you will see a db9 serial port in their, if you dont have serial on your laptop a serial to usb adapter will work

Base calibration (like a strat in the right direction type map)

I'm still pretty interested in this wiring that keeps it in open loop operations. Lets us know if you find anything else out about it.
