Default Stage 0 PSI readings

well I was watching this vid of a stage 0 installation and when they test ran the car the PSI boosted to 8 PSI instead of 6 PSI...y? and they didnt change anythng on the car ...all they ran was a boost gauge and the kit itslef......shoudl this be happening? If it's normal and can happen can a tc on stock internals handle the 8 PSI? lol cuz i dont plan on runnign emanage and thats what I think was causing it in the vid......without emanage is there a chance of this?

Its called boost spike and yes there is a chance of this. Also, most boost gauges read 1-2 psi higher that what is ACTUALLY being produced. This is for a safety measure. This info was given to me from a well respected tuner her in SoCal. Also, many of your q's would be better directed towards ZPI themselves, since that is the kit you are considering. They could then set you up with everything.

Well i just did my stage 0 install about 3 days ago, and probably what happened is that they did not change out the wastegate spring to the 6 psi one. When i got my wastegate it had the 8 psi spring in it. The reason being is that zpi does not actually get these wastegates, (i think) but they get them from another supplier that has their spring which is the 8 psi spring. Zpi supplys you with the 6 psi spring, and it is required if you plan on staying stage 0, no management, stock injectors. Yes the motor can handle 8 psi, but then you would have to get the 550cc injectors, greddy e-manage, front mount intercooler, which is zpi's upgrade to a stage 1, But without any of that, u cannot run 8 psi, or it is definitely not recommended. Everything pretty much stock will only be good to 6psi ( stock injectors, no management, etc)

Actually the GT-Concepts wastegate ships with a .6 bar spring (8.7 PSI). btw Stage 0's should not spike. They have a large 38mm open-dump wastegate.

Thanks for the correction, 8.7 psi, i couldn't exactly remember, i just remembered the 8 part, lol. But the yeah, stage 0 does not spike, ive been getting into boost alot since the install and i have no problems. I also do not run any kind of management. I love my kit by the way!

Man, to me it is way more than descent! I mean it is like a totally different car! The boost comes quick, no turbo lag, i freaking love mine! Oh, and the sound of the open wastegate is awesome! For the buck for bang it is a pretty good turbo kit! Also there is the treadstone kit which is close to the same price, and i have not heard nothing but good things from the guys on SL with those kits. I guess some of the treadstone guys can chime in on the success of their kits. We can all learn and help eachother no matter what kit you got. Simply, we all love BOOST!!!

From being at ZPI's shop last week, I can assure you that Kenny is a very busy person, as well as everyone else that works there. You just gotta be patient, I'm sure he will give you a call back. Sean is also very helpful on the phone, you could talk to him.
