i was curious about raising the rev limiter after building the head. after reading through some posts, it seems to be a touchy subject. i know that a cars redline is largely based on piston speed due to length of stroke. our car has a 96mm stroke, and the rev limiter is set to 6400rpms. after doing some research i found that a k24 has a 99mm stroke, with a 7300rpm rev limit. now these are both the stock settings, and im sure that the k24 has a much better valvetrain. i geuss all im asking is, when i build my valvetrain, could i safely raise the rev limiter to 7500rpms. im sure there have been a few of us wondering the same thing, and the only real way to find out is to do it. but i just wanted to get some opinions first.

 

i guess ill just have to find out and let ya know how it works out ;)

 

The race team we work with is stock bottom end, N/A and revs their car with our valve springs, retainers and 1mm OB valves to 7300 RPMS.

 

the thing is....is it still making power all the way up there?

 

with my turbo it will be.

 

Im not worried about that, but for brett's sake his dyno showed he had alot left in it!

 

Race team does until 7K or so. ;)


No point in revving that high if ya don't make power there.

It makes REALLY good all motor power is all that I am at liberty to say.

 

the only reason i want to know is because i dont want to have to shift into 5th at the dragstrip. i'd like to stay in 4th for the fact that its the closest 1:1 gear ratio and pulls harder than 5th. the only problem is that im hitting the rev limiter in 4th @ 112mph before i hit the finish.

 

go aem ems and upgrade ur valvetrain.....120+mph et's FTW
