As I understand it, if you have a dealer install it, it should last the remainder of your powertrain warranty. (though i think it's technically 12mo/12k miles or the remainder of the warranty - whichever is longer).

Well the biggest thing to know about your warranty is that nothing will ever just completely "void" your warranty.

The way it works is that if you put some non-OEM part on your car and then have a problem down the road, the dealership should prove that the non-OEM part you put on caused the problem, to refuse warranty coverage for a repair

That is... if you change out your springs, and your OEM shocks blow out because of the lower springs and more abuse... the shocks will not be replaced under warranty. But if you replace your springs and your factory radio stops working a month later, that should still be replaced under warranty.

Good luck with that, my friend had a hell of a time getting his tranny fixed on warranty with a trd quickshifter. They refuse you and there isn't much you can do about it.

Well some dealers are more dicks about it than others... but I'd push back. I'd print out the entire magnussen moss act and take it in to them. And if that didn't work, I'd get a lawyer...

A lawyer might be overkill, depending on what the cost is... but you get the idea. Legally, they can't just refuse unless they can show the cause.

The TRD shifter, in this case, should have carried with it, the same warranty coverage we're talking about here. If they refused that, then the dealer is likely just a ____ty place. I would have gone somewhere else or pushed back.

^^This is correct. I bought mine from a third-party TRD dealer, and had it installed locally at a Scion dealership around me. As long as it's brand new (i.e. not a S/C that was previously installed in another tC), and installed at a Scion dealership, then the S/C is covered under your current drive train warranty, be it a regular or extended warranty. Some dealers are not very knowledgeable regarding the S/C, so I would check around your area to see A) who offers the best price for the install (believe it or not, the prices vary on the install - I got a quotes from $600 to $900), and B) who has installed them before (this is important when getting the ECU reflash, as the dealer I went to had to "borrow" a reflash tool from another dealership...which added a day and a half to my installation time). Also, the dealership that I went to tried to tell me that this was only a one-year warranty - THIS IS NOT TRUE. When you get your kit, open it up and read through the packet that comes with it - this includes the warranty card that the dealer MUST fill out and send in, along with the warranty itself. After my install, I went back to the dealership, showed them this information, and they apologized to me and filled out the card. It's not that they wanted to screw me over, it's just that certain dealerships don't know what's covered and what's not...

Good luck with it, if you decide to go that route!
