Default Supercharger Installation Questions

Hey guys,

I've got a supercharger coming in sometime in March, and a couple friends and I are going to install it. I've also got an NST 9.5lbs pulley coming, along with a used Bosche 110 sitting around.

1. Would it be a good idea to install the pulley right off the bat, from day 1? Or to leave it stock to "break in"?

2. Should a BPV be oily? Is this what a catch can is usually for?

3. Can I remove my ECU and bring it down to a dealer to reflash it? Or does it need to be in my car?

4. Any helpful advice from the DIYers? We're definitely going to read those instructions over about 10x before doing it, but I know the instructions are second to some good advice someone has to offer from experience.

Thanks!

1. Doesnt really make a difference
2. Define oily
3. Is your car an auto or manual? The ecu is supposed to be out of the car when the flash it
4. Its not that difficult to do, just make sure you can operate a wrench. I did mine in about a day in the driveway

i'd put the pulley as you are putting hte charger in, i'm sure that will make things alot easier.

1. gotcha
2. i picked up the bpv from another SL member and it was quite oily when i got it. fairly covered in oil. normal?
3. manual. so i might as well just take the ecu to them huh? they said i should tow it to them to reflash it since i shouldnt drive on it without the reflash. i figure this is easier.
4. no problems then. ive done all my mods and maintenance myself and no issues so, i feel better, thanks

You can drive on the lack of reflash as long as you dont get into boost or go over 3k rpms. Make sure your dealership can do the flash too.

for sure man.

kikcaffine, how long have you had your s/c installed? issues?

it kind of makes me nervous getting a s/c seeing how many issues there are around, but i also know people who have good experiences arent going to be popping up exclaiming it the way the complaints do... so i'll get over it. i just have to do a perfect install.
