Default supercharger went at 16K!

well, i had a whine, so i took it in, yup, bearing in the turbin part went.. so they replaced the whole thing under warranty... so, to those that said when i asked before i bought this car (used w/ 14K on it) about the reliability of the SC, and said very very FEW problems.. well, psh.. im now one of the very few... LOL.. all good, was over 5K dude said.. all i had to pay for was the oil change.. and insurance is covering the tow.. AND the tamper proof cap was NOT on.. so, that no issue.. not sure why, if they just forgot to put it on or what in the first place.. but its on there now!

yup, the cap is on the end of the pulley.. it makes it so you cant see the nut.. thus making it hard to pull off the pulley

i didnt think this sentence was very clear. for those of you who arent familiar with it. Toyota puts a small plastic cap on the end of the pulley which is supposed to be impossible to buy privately so that if lets say you decide to put a 12lbs Pulley on your supercharger and break it. You take it to Toyota even with the stock pulley and they see no cap they can refuse to cover it under warranty. I know a lot of people have said the dealership never put it on so you may get lucky but who knows what YOUR dealership does with the SC and for a smaller town like Reno Toyota where they do 2-3 SC installs ever, they may remember quite clearly that they did put the cap on for you.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out man. Was your car stock, or did you have other modifications?

Just goes to show that some dealers will not screw you. I have seen dealers who have actually done warranty work, even on cars that had aftermarket products. Believe it or not, it has a lot to do with the way you interact with your dealer and your own attitude!

So if they happen to not install the cap and your S/C goes bad, and you take it in with no cap, are they going to say no dice you've messed with the S/C or will they still work on it? Cuz if that's the case then change the pulley and "if " you do happen to have problems just take it in with the stock pulley and tell them they just never installed the cap. Unless ???

im not sure you're aware exactly how sensitive our ecu is....
our ECU is pretty friggin smart... why do you think in can tune itself to 6.5 psi from zpi stage 0 kit without an emanage??? IF he puts that pulley on there... theyll no a/f levels will be different... temps will be different and that ecu will log it all... and any half decent tech (which i can assure will be the guy working on any SCed car that goes to dealerships) will know something is up and flag you immediately... don't touch a damn thing, take it back to them with the stock pulley and tell them you either want a cap put on, or you demand written proof and take LOTS of pictures showing that its not on there... trust me eating a motor is NOT cheap...

Hey what's the reccomended break in procedure for the S/C anyways, and do they change your oil when they install the S/C?
