Default Talk to Turbonetics

I was at a SEMA panel today and met Joe Hige, the new CEO of Turbonetics, as well as a couple other of their staff members.

He and I will be in contact some more in the future, but I will be talking to some of their staff tomorrow in person.

If you have anything you'd like to tell them, to vent about (product woes, etc), let me know. This is the kind of thing they want to hear so they can correct it.

My turbo just went out after 10k miles and it is in transit to their office to be checked out for warranty repair. After reading a few posts it seems that these turbos don't last and start to blow smoke then go out. They need to find the root cause , too much oil pressure? BOV not working, etc. thanks

They are working on this actually. Replacement turbos either are or will soon be going out with a water cooled bearing housing. I don't know for sure if they have implemented it yet on all kits but they are going to switch to them.

Yes if you are having issues with your current turbo and they have cut in the water cooled bearings then you would get one with water cooled bearings...

makes sense since all they would have to do is retro fit the existing tc kit to fit within the engine compartment of the xb. that is what we call being cost effective!

i guess there just isn't enough of a market for people who turbo their boxes.

Well they have a part number for a Cast Steel exhaust turbo manifold for the xA/xB so I'm sure they thought about it.

They didn't just think about it they tried it but the 1st Gen Xb and Xa internals were just a little too scary a proposition for boost. Where as the tC has shown that it can take boost well the xA and xB motor just was a little to scary to try and make a bolt on turbo for..
