Default The TC and more power

I wrote along story about turbo charged cars and it disappeared, but what I was trying to say was that in 1990 if Porsche can crank out a 944 twin turbo for Europe with 350 HP that in 2010 Scion could do the same in 2010. The 944 was just a four cylinder motor that lasted forever. I had one in 1983, 1997, 1989, and 1990. The 1989 was a turbo S with 287 HP. They go like hell and have a 4 year warantee. After market turbos don't lower the compression ratio and get rusty waste gates and don't raise your resale value. I say, get Scion to get on the developement bandwagon and produce some thing that is possible and that we will purchase in place of our existing one. This is for TC only so we can go out and take on the M3 and the WRX. They just need to have more options to make the TC a pocket rocket and a legit class of racer. Porsche's motto used to be "win on Sunday, sell on Monday". This could apply to Scion today. Stan Donogh

Sorry but its not gonna happen no matter what we do as consumers. Scion is for young kids who need a first car. Yea aint no middle class mommy and daddy gonna buy there kid a scion tc putting out 250+ hp for what 25k or up. Cause thats what it will cost when its all said and done.

agree'ed just look at the kid that had his turbo thrown in the dumpster by his mom...

but it sucks that they (toyota) don't offer any boosted apps anymore... other than the s/c options from factory

What kind of pride is there in buying a car and running it the way it is? The fun is in the build lol For building a beast of a car the tc is def up towards the top - pick one up used for 10k - dump 10k into the motor and drivetrain and you have a pretty awesome 350-400whp monster for around 20k

Dude, we should all sign a petition saying to scrap the Supra plans... Make the tC into a Supra that will outperform a GT-R in every aspect and sell it to tC owners only at a list price of $999 + TTT. Dude, we'd get such a good deal and be elite, since we'd be the only one that can get it.

swdonogh, you are the man with ideas. I'm glad we have geniuses here like you. Without you guys, I don't know what my dumb ___ would do.

i thought that was muscle car motto for the big 3.
anyway, if they increase the price for the tc near to bmw. Then 99% of the tc owner can't afford it.

Modding a car causes the car to loose its integrity. Scion isn't a brand for power, period. Nothing about it screams performance, that isn't why it was designed. If you want a fast car, buy a real sports car.

I disagree look at greenhope High in cary NC, most expensive school parking lot in the US. Everything from high end carrea's to lambo, Im friends with a few kids that drive brand new gt500's as there first car. SO parents will buy them,

but I agree that it will never happen since it will raise the price too much

One thing we must all understand is that the automakers are not run by ricers. But middle aged men who are way past their Fast & Furious phase.

The close we might see to a performance oriented Scion is that ToyoBaru car. But it's not certain what badge it will sport.

That would be great!!! But (always a but) the biggest diff. is the $$$$$$ Porsche is able to create that car with that engine cause they have a market that would pay up.....Scion are suppose to be cars that are affordable......if scion would do a turbo set up the price of the car would skyrocket!!! but you never know and everyone can dream

Lol the scion Tc is a economy car. That sells great at the price it's at. You make it alot more pricey and it will not sell unless you make it look like the Lexus LFA lol.

Reading > YOU!

Stock i4 2.0L NON-TURBO direct fuel injected box of FAIL!

It also won't be released in the near future nor look anything like the concept, do more reading before posting.

Finally, the FT86 WILL NOT be badged as a Scion at all. It is outside of the Scion price range, it will either be a Toyota, branded as a Celica, or a Subaru.

my point is that if it does come out, then it can easily get the better boxer engine with a swap granted they dont shoe-horn it in and cant do anything with it period.

Dont take things so personally ecko! i'd hate to have to race ya if you pass through my turf in SC

First thing first the Porche’s engine was from the 80's when emission standards were a lot lower. Look at the single turbo Supra’s from back then and you will understand. A turbo Porche now is over $100k and it shows it is not worth trying to make a turbo model for the lower end Porches.

Next the FT-86 will surely come to the US and do not be surprised if it will come with either a turbo 2.5l or a NA 2.5l. I bet that Toyota/Subaru will not want to bring over a new engine that has to pass US regulations for just one model because no more 2.0L Subaru engines are legal here now (this is why Subaru all of a sudden went to 2.5l engines in the WRX, the STI, and every other model that had a 2.0l). Also the FT-86 probably will still look very similar on the outside of the current concept vehicle but the interior will most defiantly be a lot different.
