Default tips for pre dyno

I'm getting tuned and dynod Tuesday morning.. iv been going over clamps and vac lines to make sure there's no leaks.. what stuff did u guys do(or forget to do) before the dyno? I'm pretty tapped out on the kit and my guy charges hourly so I wana be in and out of there... what octane do u guys run?

My goal for the first tune is 10psi(I have a 10lbs spring in the waste gate) idont care what hp and tq on 91

2nd 10psi on 96 I want to see over 300hp and tq

3rd 10psi on 96 with my cut out exhaust open..

After I break in the turbo I'm gona go back and try 13psi

theres no such things as breaking in the turbo. breaking in the motor yes. might as well just stick with 13psi. why pay again for just 3 more psi. make sure spark plugs, oil, every maintenance thing you can do is good.

1. if possible do a boost leak test or do your best to make sure all connections are tight (vac lines as well as charge pipes)
2. bring a spare set of sparkplugs (tuning can and will foul your current plugs)
3. Talk to the tuner about your concerns, this is a great time to pick his brain)
4. Top off all fluids
5. If lowered make sure your not too low that you cant get on their dyno
6. Write down the 4th gear ratio and bring it to them (some tuners may not know the gear ratio's of the tc and if they dont they will run the car on the dyno to calibrate and find out ratio's. It will just be quicker if they know right off the bat.

thats all i can think of

Get a tune for 13 psi, and get a boost controller to keep it at 10 if thats what you want to daily at

ya just do a run at 13 (with boost controller) then you can just lower it to 10 for daily because it wont change the tune. youll be tuned for 13 but your wastegate will open at 10...

Lol its not like he is going to make ridiculous power on 13pdi. FOR HIM to need to build his block. He will need a clutch before he needs a block.

If he gets tuned for 13 psi and drops it to 10 psi. Your right the tune won't change but he will run rich. Again feeds thee purpose of being tune at that psi. In my opinion 350whp and under the block will hold.

I understand that, but its safe runnning 13 on a stock on a daily? I was always told youd need a built block if you were going to run it daily.

Psi doesn't mean anything. Its the power made that matters.

doesn't the amount of psi change how hot the engine runs? more psi = more heat in the engine? i might have read wrong, but either way, 13 psi won't kill anything

yes more boost it can get hotter. but theres way to cool down some of that hot air like meth, bigger intercooler. even e85 burns cooler

but as far as the block goes, i thought the piston rings (iirc) go out at too much heat. so if he runs too much boost without doing anything to cool down the explosions, it'll blow the piston rings

ps. not saying that he can't run 13 psi or anything like that, it's just something for him to pay attention to.

yea but at 13psi he wont have to worry about hot air unless it was the trd s/c at 13psi lol

you dont needa fuel pump on 10 psi. even at 13 psi. your fuel pump was probably oing bad anyways.
