Default TRD SC with HKS Intake

The July issue of Super Street magazine gives a step-by-step overview of the Scion tC TRD Supercharger install.

What's interesting is they show pics of an HKS intake they fitted to it - and they state that it nets +5 hp on the dyno.

Max HP for their Mustang Dyno session was 185 whp if I'm reading the plot correctly.

That company that is installing that S/C will also be installing a turbo kit on top of that. So dual charged tC.

Ive seen a few dual charge systems. I think they usually use the supercharger to spool the turbo charger. Not positive tho.

Ohh and they only pulled 185 whp but on the stock car they only got 127 whp if I remember correctly.

Yeah, Dynos are all different. If you ask me, dyno manufacturers should all adhere to some kind of standard.

Here's the article:

So yeah, turbo + super charged.

As far as the HKS intake goes, it could've been halfed CAI from some other car that just happens to fit the tC. Notice how it doesn't connect to the throttle body directly, but to the plastic pipe that used to be connected to the air box.

I can see a dual charge being beneficial with an eaton type blower to help spool up the turbo. However, our centrifugal kits don't spool until higher in the band so I guess they might use a turbo to spool the s/c? Lol

I really don't think that's going to work but they might make me eat my words. If it has anything to do with superstreet though I won't hold my breath, lol
