TRD Supercharger
Good idea or bad? And about how much $$$$ is it? And where can I get it the cheapest? I know its within the $3000 range. But thats why I'm asking, I wanna see who has it the cheapest.
there is this really cool invention called the search button, its relatively new... If you could just learn to use it you'd see about twenty threads with the same question....
To answer your questions though:
Bang for the buck- this definitely is NOT the ticket
Warranty Concerned??? - Then this is for you...
Changine the pulley on a S/C is retarded and a waste of money. I'm well aware many will disagree but why pay $2900 to buy something that puts out 50whp less than a greddy kit??? Throw in the fact Greddy's kit also has an intercooler and its even more retarded, especially when they are about the same price. The S/C has very high power potential and it will outflow almost any turbo setup available for our car, but its definitely not the cheapest way to do it....
But then again there is the leaking oil seals, broken impeller mounts, warped seals and a whole other list of stuff that is turning out to be common with this S/C setup

^^^ Listen to the man, he knows what he's talking about.
Seriously, if you don't know anything about boosting and or are very concerned about the warrenty and reliability of your car go with the S/C. You're engine and drivetrain will suffer a lot less since you'll be boosting much less than any turbo. Less power and torque to put on the whole powertrain.
Now that I've said that, the S/C it self is really turning out to be problematic. I know guys running the t-netics kit and ZPI kits and they've never once had a problem with the actual setup. Try not to base everything off of peak hp when choosing if you're performance oriented. A turbo will provide you with a lot more useable hp.
Just trying to help you from making the very mistake I made. Performance is one thing but a broken S/C is another especially if your warrenty is expired. But than again, you might never have a problem with the blower. Let me correct myself, the blower holds up excellent, it's TRD's brackets and driving assembly that have the problems. Search and you will see....
