I honestly do not like the dumping sound of the bov. When driving past a cop, a cop will surely target you if he hears your car dump out. With that said, has anybody really masked the sound? I heard a few different bov's and some are a lot quieter then others (and some make an ugly high pitched noise) - Comments?

go recirculated, that's absolutely no sound at all, that's the point of a recirculated blwo off valve, bosche makes one that's hella cheap, like 50 bucks....and it's silent, and it's exactly what comes with stock turbos

 

I think i might have made a mistake - I was watching some tc videos and I thought that even the recirculated were making noise .... i know someone is going to say "well they shouldnt be making noise because its dumping back into the line" ....but maybe the vids I was watching were labeled wrong.

Yea - I was also looking at the 50/50 splits. They sounded better. Any good/bad feedback with them?

I took out the insert in my ssqv, its very quiet now.

I am recirculating my Synapse BOV and it barely makes any noise. Just a small whoosh sound. I have been very happy with it.

 

I took mine out and I thought it sounded terrible.

I ended up getting the purple "special fin insert" for mine and it is fairly quiet. It is just a low "woosh" when I let off. It is a lot quieter than the insert that came with the SSQV

 

i like the loud PSHHHHH sound.

 

Don't boost past the cop. The BOV won't make any noise unless there is excess boost to release.

If you want to hear mine, I'll be at the Willowbrook Mall meet this Saturday...not sure if you were planning on going or not.

Here is how loud the Greddy Type-RS is, vented to atmosphere. Windows and sunroof are closed.

Half-throttle pulls, hitting only around 6PSI


Tire broke loose, hit around 10-11PSI


Used my cell phone...just trying to give an example of the volume.

 

just go easy on the throttle when cop is around, you would never hear the bov dump by staying at high vac

 

Hmmm... if you don't know that not driving in boost will leave nothing to dump, maybe it's time to go back to N/A!

yeah I've never had a problem with blowing off in front of cops. not that i make it a point to do it. I don't think I've ever had the opportunity. I usually flutter a little bit, but then they just think my car is broken or something....

 

i have the bosch bov everyone is talking about...its an audi TT bypass valve....is was so quiet you couldnt hear it inside your car....i just bought an hks though cause i love them so if anyone is interested in the bosch hit me up...its already on about a foot of pipe
