most people should get the same or better gas mileage while being turbo. the key is being TUNED(professionally), while the car is in vac it should get as good mileage as any other tc. mileage starts to go down when the car is boosting, this could be a very hard thing to stay out of because boosting is so much fun.

The kit itself does't have allot to do with your actualy mileage (other than the psi you run, size turbo etc)

The TUNING is the most important part when it comes to fuel mileage.

If you are not in a rush and can spend the money on extra dyno time you will be suprised with the fuel mileage you can get.

+ if you are wanting a kit and are looking for gas mileage pick a relatively smaller turbo(50 trim) and keep the boost low (5-7psi) and smaller injectors.

enjoy!!!

Regards-

Todd

I have a smaller TT kit...I was getting about 24mpg before and 22mpg after...mostly freeway but I get into mild boost alot.
Haven't calculated since the retune, but I know it's worse...cause I've been pushing the new 9psi setting alot!

hey, keep yours at 10...when we raced when you were at 5 and I was at 9, I said I'd go down to 6, but I dont' like driving at 6, so leave it at 10 and I'll race you at 9.

Im now back up to 10.5psi...got her retuned monday and went up 3psi...got a gain of 45 whp & wtq. BUT thats not all, power comes in super early and now it holds all the way to redline whereas it would poop out a bit before...the car is insanely smooth to drive and the power deliver is so linear.

The shop was hot though...10:00am and it was already 92 degrees! and had crappy gas in the tank too (had just got back from the grand canyon and all there was was a GIANT station)

As far as MPG goes...havent really tested it @ 10.5psi but at 7.5psi i went to the Grand Canyon, drove around a bit, got lost, stopped and visited and came all the way back to Phoenix...took about 21 gallons round trip (23.8 MPG)...so not too bad!

Injector size? How much fuel are you pulling (F/IC)?

Also, Meaty, isn't your tune set up for a 16-17 cruising AFR?

If you are worried about the MPG you probably shouldnt get something that makes you use premium gas.

new tune is 14.6-15.0 cruizing no matter what rpm I'm at! PERFECT!

Full boost is a little rich though, so on boost and off boost MPG are dramatically different.

650cc injectors here.

Yes, the turbocharger kit will reduce your MPG. Turbo kits on an internal combustion motor are not economizers and cannot be constructed as such. There is no engineering basis for making such a claim.

When not operating under boost, a turbo charger is a small system restriction. This restriction causes a small loss in volumetric efficiency. Volumetric efficiency and fuel economy are definitely tied together. If your driving habits are the same as N/A your mileage will drop 10% city and 5% highway. Those numbers are only an estimate.

Turbo kits are designed for making power not helping you at the pump.

After seeing Todd's kit firsthand. They are well constructed and worth the wait. They have awesome power numbers. There is not a turbo kit out there that will give you power AND improve your fuel economy. Its just not possible
