Default Tuning an Automatic Turbo

I was talking to a few people where I live and one of the places was telling me the Auto Transmission will not hold. The guy told me they were pushing 8psi into it and 15 psi max. He also said they have been sending the Transmission back and forth and have done over $3500 in repairs and it still wont hold. I bought a Turbo from one of my guy friends and they told me I will be fine under 6 psi. The kit is Brand new and I have an 08 automatic TC. Any more insight? That would be great

P.S I heard from other sites this is where all the D!ckHe@ds are, so please, if you are one. Dont reply. No offense

yeah, U won't be able to push as much power as a manual but if you're under 6 psi you should be fine. I think the auto holds up to ~240 whp?

How about if I upgrade my Valve Body? I looked up some information about that, but the valve body makes your shifts crisper, so why not just reflach the ECU and program it to do that, instead of spend $600-1100 on a VB kit

Iv turbocharged 2 auto tc's so far @8psi...under hard throttle they dont want to shift worth a crap however after replacing the vavle body and adding a tranny cooler things were much much better. use quility tranny fluid (may i suggest ams oil synthetic atf), B&M tranny cooler, IPT valve body http://www.importperformancetrans.com/ . just a warning though and to outline the obvious, you are adding a lot more load on your transmission and creating more heat by turbocharging an automatic so keep an eye on your fluids and change regularly.

good luck

Please people, Psi is dependent on turbo size. I know some of you know that, But I dont know if the OP is referring to a 16G or a 35R. 260ish whp is good for a valve body and cooler. Any more It may take a crap on you. I know from experience.

that was a given but like you said she may not know that

I can confirm that it will hold 240hp@8psi on a turbonetics t3/t4 (turbonetics kit). on the same kit iv seen it hold 12psi however i dont have a dyno sheet for that one. But who knows how long it will hold!...lol

you'll be more then fine at 5psi or less. my friend turbo'd his auto tc on a greddy kit at 5 and made 243whp with no problems. im in the process of boosting my auto as well. dont expect big numbers at all, 300hp max if your really lucky. if you dont have some sort of ems dont even attempt it lol and definitely use a tranny cooler. and if you dont want to worry about the trans. grenading on you upgrade the valve body

12psi on my little disco potato turbo was ok on the auto. 261whp. 18psi broke it. bad.

But with less whp, you will still beat 99% of 5 speed cars around the same hp, or a little bit greater in the 1/4 mile. Most people cant drive.

i always loved "what do you guys think of this $1,700 turbo kit that i found on ebay?", and "is it safe to run on x amount of boost untuned?".
