I just finished installing a custom stage 0 kit on my car. My wastegate has a 5.9 spring. But at full throttle it boosts up to 7 psi. Can somebody help me fix this.

 

you could swap to a lower psi spring, or install a boost controller. also, i hope you are running some sort of engine management with it.

 

take a pic of your vac lines.

you have the 4lb wastegate spring if you want to put that in

 

if its a true ZPI stage 0 then it should run "ok" without management, its not recommended, but not absolutely necessary when only running 4-6 pounds of boost, but be careful with those spikes, they are definitely dangerous!

Ive never seen a boost controller make its own pressure!

 

I think what he meant using boost controller is that so he could up the boost when needed since he is gonna be using a smaller spring

 

yeah you most definately want to quadruple check all your lines. Because having spikes like that with no management or anything will bad news bears for your engine.

you had me realllllly scarred bud

 

lots and lots of things can make you boost higher than what the spring is rated for..

1. vac leak to wastegate
2. fittings on wastegate not sealing
3. pinched hose to wastegate
4. using crappy vac hose to wastegate that when it heats up it collapses or pinches
5. cheap wastegate
6. cold weather can make you boost 1-2psi over wastegate spring at times

just to name a few.

 

Boost controllers only work for increase boost over the wastegate spring, not lower it.
