Turbo Maintenance help?!
hi; ive recently been posting that i want to get the greddy bolt on setup; and my friend has told me awhile ago, that to be able to maintain a turbo is by cleaning it weekly? what is this cleaning it? thanks !!!
hmm, well i have the zpi setup, and my maintenance is mostly normal things...checking oil, looking for visible leaks....other than that, things i do once in a while are check the pressure of the hoses (with a vac tester), check to see if anything is coming loose....but then again, i don't do these things very often.....i mean i'm only running 6 psi, so its not like i'm running an crazy amount of boost...and check maybe once a week, for oil and every 2 or 3 weeks for the vac test, etc
I think your friend was bs-ing lol doesn't really sound like he knows what he's talking about. Turbo maintenance for me consists mostly of checking oil, making sure everything is properly tightened (torqued). and basically an all over visual inspection once a week or every other week. Having a good set of gauges will give the ok that everything's alright and for the most part there really isn't much else to do.
