Default turbo problem! please help

hey guys i recently installed a zpi stage 0 turbo and it ran fine for good 3 days. those days were really nice with about 40 degree weather. today it is about low 20's and i have school to go to. i went to school fine but after me and a friend went to get sum food and my car wouldnt go above 2 grand. i feel like the fuel pump got over heated or sumthing. my car is r unning stock tune, stock injectors, and 1 step colder spark plugs. Also my friend said that my car was shooting white smoke when i was getting on it but i think that was just the cold.

if anybody has any advice, please help!

Have you checked your oil levels? Do you have enough coolant?

You should never run a turbo kit on stock injectors and stock tune, you're just asking for trouble.

from my understanding, you don't have a "Tune" with one of those "Stage 0's"... it is suppost to run on stock injectors and ecu...
Smoke can be normal.... then it can also be bad news...
Blown Turbo, Gaskets, or somthing along those lines... but I doubt it. check and make sure you don't have any vacume leaks....

yea sounds like a vac leak to me. Check all your couplers and make sure the charge piping is on and in tact. Check all ur vac hoses also

the thing is, sure, there were plenty of guys running untuned zpi stage 0 kits, but the only person who said "yeah, you can run an untuned kit" was Kenny from ZPI, who has now been proven to be a crook. Are you just gonna take his word for it? Or the word of pretty much anyone else that is not associated with ZPI in one way or another?

the stage 0 kit can run on stock ecu and injectors and ive seen it run pretty good like that but it is HIGHLY not recommend and very bad for your engine. Your putting your car at risk of detonation with that. Maybe it has to do with the cold and stock ecu? Also could be a vacuum leak. I wouldnt drive it though just to be safe until you figure out the problem

I would avoid getting into boost until you get injectors and engine management and a tune

there are people who have run stage 0 kits and have been fine... if you keep the boost low and don't drive like a tool you should be straight. I wouldn't recommend it at all, but it has worked for others.

even if your car is running fine now, I would check all the couplers and clamps. I had a leak at my blow off valve that would come and go and was barely noticeable until i just went through and tightened all my clamps and double checked the couplers.

damn i love being in boost lol...but im gonna take it easy(or try to) until im able to get sum money for engine management and tune....actually got another question

are you able to rent an engine management from a dyno shop like ptuning? like will the tune stay or do you actually have to buy the management and keep it in your car to keep the tune?

the piggy back needs to be installed... the only tune you can take with you per se is the ecu reflash for the s/c

The AEM F/IC will only run you $400, and then another $300 for the harness unless the tune shop can wire it up for you as well.

DO NOT GET THE EMANAGE ULTIMATE

for the price and for what it does go with the AEM F/IC

just trust me .. i went the route of greddy emanage blue, then i went to ultimate and now im on F /IC

trust me .. go with the F/IC

Read this:
http://www.dezod.com/files/FICvsEMAN.pdf
It's comparing the F/IC to the Blue, but you'll get the general idea. Ultimate adds software, pressure sensor, rev limiter controll and I think vvti controll (maybe not) to the blue for an increased price. but the basics are the same.

i dont care who you are or what kit you have... you must ALWAYS have some kind of engine management! if a there was a turbo kit out there that adapted to the tc with out changing injectors or adding a managment system, Scion would have added one at the factory. you can not safely run a turbo kit with out upgrading a few things.. its just a proven fact!
