Default The turbo route is looking good for me..

Finally got a new job and I'm stocking money away for some boost. Now I just have to narrow down what kit I want to get. I don't track/drag my car. It's just a DD and I'm just looking to have some fun with it, nothing crazy like street racing or anything stupid. I just want to do something different than all the other Scion owners in my area. (No one with a tC is boosted) Now my question is, what would be the best kit for me? Dezod S1 is a good price for a bolt on kit, but does it need a tune? PTuning's kit is a bit pricey but I could always stock extra money away. Does PTuning's kit need a tune?

Also, how much power can our stock clutches handle? Is it safe running a turbo kit without a 2.5inch or 3inch exhaust?

1. p-tuning does need a tune.
2. stock clutch...not much over what the supercharger put outs, which is 190. i'd guess something like 225 or so.
3. you can run a turbo with stock exhaust safetly. it just won't spool as efficiently.

Alright so if I bought Dezod's S1 kit, I could just install it and I'm not going run lean or rich? I was pretty sure I was going to need a new cluch no matter what but I just wanted to double check.

How about the Descendant kit? I've heard very good things and it comes with a map doesn't it? That's what it says on Descendant's website and on TRDsparks.

OMG this is going no where.... first learn about boost, plenty of threads to educate a dog on boost. every car is different, you will need a tune whatever fuel management you get to your car for it to run correctly...

i have a feeling this is gonna end with a blown motor....

money wise yes ptuning is the most expensive kit but its also the best, if ur trying to save a lil money but still get a great kit thats proven get the dezod as for the tuning they both have a preset base map that u can run but after a while u should get a tune , if u get either turbo kit u will have to upgrade ur clutch , and as for the exhaust queston u can run a small exhaust like with the desendent kit but u would want to upgrade because turbos need to breathe

I would never just slap a turbo on my car without knowing anything, that's why I'm asking questions. I apologize if they have been answered before. I'll search around.

But thank you for responding.

it is encouraged that people search cause most likely the question has been answered before... but from the sound of it, you did want to just slap on a turbo kit with out any knowledge... so excuse me, but there are plenty of dumb people that dont do their research.

all kits need a tune. now the dezod kit comes with a basemap, which will make power and such, but it is really just a map so that your car doesn't blow up the moment you hit boost.

if you just wanna have fun, just get a dezod kit. if you aren't looking to race and going for big numbers, why spend all that extra money for a p-tuning kit that you would never use to the full potential anyway?

if you just want some extra power, order a dezod s1 kit with a piggy back ecu (emanage or f/ic, boost, wideband 02 and EGT gauge, stronger clutch, and get it all installed, and tuned, you'd be pretty good to go.

be nice marcial, we were all noobs at one point...lol

but marcial is right, learn all you can by going to some of the stickys in the this section. lots to be learned there and a pretty good read too. once you have done that ask more questions about what some kits include versus others. in the end bro you gotta do whats right for you and not what everyone els thinks you should get.

Read Kit Reviews, research every individual part and what role it plays in the system, and ask people questions on here, you'll be set after that.
