Default Turbo or Supercharger.

Was wondering what people thought was a better bang for the buck. Im seeing all the time S/C going for 2 to 3 grand. And Turbos going between 4 and 7. I know you get more boost and power with the turbo but is it worth it. Does the turbo kill the reliability aspect on a vehicle. Im thinking bout going FI but I also want to know that my car wont die next week. With the S/C im pretty sure it wouldnt. But does anybody know what turbo kit i could get at a good deal, with more boost and power then a S/C, but wont kill the reliability on my TC.

first. you should have done a search. this is the umpteenth thread about turbo and superchargers.

the supercharger by trd has notorious problems, some have been fixed just fine, it really depends on how good your local dealership is when they install it, and how nice their customer service is when you come back with problems. the plus's are that it is cheaper, it has a warranty and it gives you a nice boost in power.

the bad parts are that alot of people say they aren't satisified with the power for the price. and if you modify it with headers, upgraded pully's etc, you void it warranty. and you also can't get the same power levels out of them as turbos.

turbos make more power, are pretty reliable, and there are lots of great kits to choose from.

but you don't have a warranty except for like turbonetics kits. but they make way more power. but you have to get gauges and upgraded clutches and take very good care of your car to make sure everything is working properly.

The search button looks like this: and is located directly below the left corner of the main banner ad.

With your concern for reliability and your limited knowledge of turbos or F/I in general, I’d have to recommend you stick with the s/c. If you ever have any problems just drive it right back to the dealer. A turbo makes more power and creates full boost a lot earlier which is why they make a lot more power through out the midrange, don’t just look at peak numbers.

You need to do a lot of searching on this one, especially if you go the turbo route.

wow squall, you moved this thread and have not yet locked it? I'm amazed!
Anywhoo...this is the never ending debate...research for yourself, use the search button if other people's opinions matter more...because there are a lot of resources out there. I would say just do your own research and see why you would even want one or the other

I don't even have to vote to know the Turbo will win by a land slide.

Search and find out how many Turbo kitted cars have switched to the S/C'er. You will find 0 threads.

Now search for S/C'ed cars going Turbo...

Honestly, If I didnt have as much money put into my s/c as I do, I would just turn around and go Turbo aswell. Then again I also like being different, Turbo cars in SoCal are a 10/12... while my car is more like 1/12.
