Default Turbo tC upgrades > progress pics

Hey all, as a lot of you know I've been waiting a while to get my car to the next level. It's now in the hands of Twins Turbo in Signal Hill. They have experience with Chris Rado's cars, so they have experience with the tC. I think she'll make some nice power on this tuning. Any guesses?

Here's what we're doing. The motor is already fully built around the Turbonetics kit (more info at www.sciontcx.com) so here are the upgrades only:

MoTec engine management with custom GP wiring harness
oil cooler
crank breather kit
aluminum radiator from C & R
external fuel pump, FPR, under-hood gauge, return line and custom fuel rail
World Racing's TBC-1 boost controller

Tuning day is scheduled for May 15 by Shane Tecklenburg... pending any delays for mechanical issues.
Wish me luck!

(Yes, that's a guitar pre-amp in the glove box with the Motec -- my son plays, it's wired into the audio system)

Here's the pics:

New Turbo --- JUST KIDDING!

Looking good man. Can wait to see the numbers after the Motec. I see you removed the stokc oil pressure sensor. Is that because of the standalone?

the oil pressure sensor piggybacks onto the turbo line (right side of head). I recall that is where the stock one was? There's a gauge on the A pillar, along with water temp --

Buddha, the motec was...well, expensive? Worth it though for the control it offers, like real-time cam control. No more speed limiter and we can set the rev limiter wherever we want.

I was going motec originally, but the price installed compared to the price of aem was just oo much of a difference when I can do just about the same thing. Very baller status though! Good luck

Looks like you were talked into a lot of really expensive and completely unnecesary stuff. I'm sure it will run great, but I hope your rich. I can't imagine why you would want to spend that kind of money on a Motec. Congrats on being a baller I guess.

i doubt he was talked into any thing. He had his choices. He's running a fully built motor. The Motec is an excellent unit and they have really lowered their prices on stuff of late. i'm sure he chose the unit that was appropriate for his needs.

With the AEM, Hydra etc. available, the Motec is just bling really. I'm not cutting the guy down, if you can afford it why not.

The AEM and Hydra are excellent units in their own right. I don't dispute that for a second. Perhaps this was his preferred management system based on past experience or perhaps his shop was more comfortable tuning the Motec. Either way this solution should work well for him. I like the AEM and Hydra as well but my personal choice would be a Haltech e11v2. Everyone has their preference usually based on experience...

They all do the same thing except the Motec costs 3 times as much. It most likely does not come with any sort of map so the dyno and set-up can take days.
