Default Turbo'd Mazda RX8?

I am thinking about selling the tC for a brand new Mazda RX8 and turbo it. Is it a good and reliable car to turbo. It has 232 HP at the crank, so probably 210WHP and a 9000 redline. I would get a new set of the same rims I have on my car for it also. Might look better on the RX8 actually. Any suggestions?

210whp ?? LOL

You should read up more on the car. It's either way overrated HP wise or it has some crazy drivetrain loss.

The car looks cool but it's got no power. Poor gas mileage too.

I've been in a Greddy turbo'd RX-8 and wasn't impressed. Of course I was driving a 2001 S4 twin-turbo at the time too...

i like the rx-8, but it's not a very reliable car. my friend's done some research, hoping to get it as a next car, but after he went on forums and stuff, he steered away and ended up getting a honda. he said people have complained a lot with engine problems and stuff, and he said it's basically a bike engine in a car.

Hmm, I did some research, you can get easy 300WHP or over, but I have more torque than any of the kits available for the RX8. It looks amazing, just not sure about its capabilities.

Actually, this is a better thread I just found.

haha - the guy did a compilation of dyno graphs - so everyone had a different dyno, different temp, different elev, different gas, etc etc.

Go ahead and trust that post if you'd like.

A turbo'd RX-8 is garbage..

Yea, I got so much money into it, it would make me lose so much money. I just don't like the way the tC's rear bumper looks, to bulky or something. Tailights look cool tinted, but I don't like the bumper from the side view.

So, 232HP to 160WHP? That doesn't sound right.

Sounds like a quitter to me..

But go ahead and sell your tC now that you've hit one little roadblock. You're going to want to trade in that RX-8 when the transmission goes (known issue on the first ones.. not sure if it's still a problem) or when you invest $5k in a turbo kit and it makes less than 250whp and half the torque.

get a different back bumper then... thats a cheaper fix than getting a new car.

Get an SRT-4 and be done with it.. Low cost car with gobs of HP.. and super mod-able.

Or if you want a nicer car just get the 350Z

I don't like ANY of the body kits. Not even the Kaminari one. MAYBE I can do a lip kit, haven't looked into them much. I plan on getting VRD fogs someday, so cutting it required with a lip kit, the OEM one that is.

I will get dissed if I get a SRT-4, they don't make them anymore. I know a guy with a 450WHP Mopar Stage 2 SRT-4. Runs 12s.

just cuz its 300WHP is doesn't mean its fast...

the stock is slower than a stock tC... i dont care what people here say, I've raced several and I come in front every time!

the M5 has "500" hp but by a 'heart break' load dyno it puts down 428 to the pavement.

my turbo tC (greddy) puts down 258WHP/ 273WTQ and takes an M5. no joke not makin this up!

RX-8's are overrated very much, especially power wise... it all comes down to the 1/4 mile time... a turbo tC is easily in the 12's range

You're worried about getting dissed?? lol are you 12 or something? Are you into cars for other people? You'll get dissed when you sell your tC because you blew an oil line and get an RX-8 and make less power with more money. Suite yourself.
