anyone wanna help me set a maintance diy if you are turboed.

3k oil changes/what viscocity to use?/
check oil once a week?

idk what else would we add..?

 

I think there is a good amount of debate on what viscosity of oil to use. There were a threads a few months back that, which had some opposing views.

 

well other than oil viscosity what should we be doing .. thats what im trying to do, a diy maintance that we should do on our boosted babys :D

 

check ur spark plugs, tire wear, if ur running a oil catch can check that also, and wastegate gasket, and an spots of oil

 

i change my tranny fluid every 30k redline mt90! oil change every 3k mobil 1 10w30 always check my oil level. plug's always check ur vacum line's like sure one isint rubbing agains't something that can cause it to make a hole. i also feel my turbo for shaft play every now and then

 

^so ur saying u check ur shaft and then play with it.......

how do you check turbos for shaft play? I dont really know what shaft play is but im curious to know.

 

take the inlet pipe off the turbo and make the the compressor wheel spins freely and make sure u cant wiggle it too much...and definately dont want it to be able to go in and out so some up n down/side to side is fine ....but not too much and never is in and out good

 

get tbolt clamps if you dont already have them, do boost leak tests every so often, and just every other maintenance you would already do to your car at 3k intervals.
let your car sit from 30 to 45secs after driving if you dont have a turbo timer.
