you can buy a new oil pan for a decent price if your worried about jacking it. This should be the least of your worries - the kit is, as far as I can tell, flawless.

THe wastegate is close to the hood, but no one has complained about it burning the hood liner, so I'm sold.

Or take it off and have it welded, and save a lot of money instead of buying a new pan.

This just makes me want to open up the wallet and say when can you have it shipped by! I rather punch the oil pan than try to remove the old one. Couple of the install that I've seen pictures on saids the oil-pan portion took almost as much time as the entire install of the other parts. Man even the intake tube has a mount and a vibra-mount. Only thing that looks dangerous is tapping into the oil-feed on the engine block.

im sorry but i would never tap an oil pan with it still in teh car. I dont care how much "protective grease" you put on the tool you use to make the hole. I realize its filtered but still, you should def remove the pan before you go making a hole in it. I cant believe thats actually in the directions.

It works. Its been done many many times.

If you are worried, fill and redrain the oil a few times. Thats what I did in the Lexus - worked beautifully.

You don't have to tap it, I didn't. Just get a T-fitting that works. I didn't want to tap my head for that. So I didn't

Removing a Toyota oil pan is a pain in the butt!!!! I have done a few and I have tapped a few as well with success. I hang a very powerfull medical grade magnet on the pan and let it suck any loose metal to it then work it toward the drian plug, cleans it right out!

I think this time I am just going to start the car and let it idle a bit with the magnet hanging on the oil drain plug, then change the oil.

As long as we're all being paranoid about metal shavings, I'll suggest this:

http://www.filtermag.com/

I bought one when I got my tC cause I figured it might help during the break-in period. It seems as though it might ease your fears with this kit as well.

I can't count how many oil pans I've tapped or seen tapped with no issues. Run through a qt of oil or two when you are down to flush it out.

Haha. Guess I should have put a stick-poking-smiley or something to let you know I was playing around. Wow, people sure like to . It is by far the most detailed install manual I have seen.
