Default turbonetics turbo went KAPUT

So my car has been smoking more then Dennis Leary for a while now and Turbonetics kept on telling me that the seals on the turbo just need to heat up and seal and then it would stop. So I believed em.

Now it is past my turbo-kits warranty end date and I have found oil caked along the inside of my intake pipe, great huh! So I guess my seals didnt just need time to heat up, they needed to be replaced. I am just putting this out there as a warning.

The good news is that a nice 60 trim turbo will be taking it's place. I hope none of you guys run into this problem.

Sorry to hear that man. How long was the warranty for anyhow? Are you sure the turbo is gone, can you even hit boost?

Smokes all the time, or just once in a blue moon?

Smokes every now and then... at least once or twice a week. But it has dumped so much oil that I practically have none and its only been about 2500 miles since my last oil change.

this is why you don't run a t-netics turbo. there QC was horrible about 6 yrs ago. they have gotten better, but there is much better out there.

best of luck

I dont have a beef with the company at all. I just wish I caught this issue before I ran into the issues I have now. I talked to steve and he told me to send it back and gave me a warranty number. Turbonetics is a great company and deserves as many kudos as I can give! I got one of the first kits and have only run into minimal issues with it. I'll tell you how this ish goes.

I'm sure Steve will take great care of you. For those who questioned their QC I love to see that posted. Especially since a customer recently returned a T04E 50 trim / Stage 3 unit that had 164,000 miles on it before anything failed. And it didn't even fail really. One of the seals started leaking and he sent it in for a rebuild. After 164,000 miles. Yeah but i guess their QC isn't up to par
