Default The Twin-charged tC

hey i just went to the NY Auto show this week, and i got a scion booklet thing. In this booklet i saw one of the most amazingly modded tC in my life. He called it Gojira, the Twin-charged tC. It wasn't the excessive race high wing or the decals that truly impressed me, but it was impressive. What truly startled me was what was under the hood of this monster. It had a trd supercharger WITH A hks turbo =O. I couldn't believe it, it was just so amazing. Of course to some of you this may not even phase you because you've probably seen that setup before on maybe a different car, but when i saw it was like lol.

Anyway i just wanted to get the opinions of the scionlife members about this setup. What are the possible downfalls? Are the negatives overwhelming the positives? Whats your take on it?

I remember there was a huge topic on here a while ago about a twin charged tC. People were wondering if the thing would even run and if it did run if it helped at all. I was more impressed by the Rack of Scions they had out. Thought Scion had a really nice set up going. Ferrari had a nice one and Lamborghini had a nice one too.

o was there? lol well in the description the guy did mention that he wanted it to be able to hit the track and stuff too, so im assuming it probably helped a bit? Im assuming the supercharger was left the way it was bought from the dealership and the turbo may be a small turbo, it was the gt3040 HKS.

its not really a popular setup because it is expensive and there is more to worry about breaking. You can get the best power out of these cars with a single turbo. Twin turbos and twin charges and superchargers are not as productive and cost effective as a single turbo setup.

but who cares cuz that thing looks cool as hell..

and yea the lambo setup was cool too...

yeh that is the tC =O, yeh i think your right guitarguru44. I can already tell just by looking at the specs of the car thats its an expensive setup. Your probably right about the setup as well being that its not as efficient, but you have to admit that looks crazy lol supercharger and turbocharger. Can you imagine the sound it produces, the jet plane tone from the supercharger and the turbocharger's TZZ together lol. Sick sick stuff xD.

Gojira is a stupid concept.

The idea of twincharging was for the supercharger to make instant boost while the turbo gets enough heat to spool. Since Gojira uses a TRD supercharger, the turbo makes full boost well before the supercharger does. Unless the idea was to add the boost of the two chargers together... but unless you max out the turbo, you can do without the supercharger.

It's too bad we can't fit a roots type supercharger.

From the booklet i saw it on, i didn't find any dynos are even specs for that matter. All i know are the parts it contains and its pretty crazy. He mainly has HKS everything lol. But im assuming it would be probably 300-350whp? maybe more? I'm not too sure im just estimating.

I thought that the Gojira badge on the back of it was a nice little touch. I would only hope that since they put so much into making that car a beast, they at least put a good lsd on it.

Im pretty sure its not running on an LSD atm, because when i looked at the specs there was no LSD setup. They're probably thinking of putting one in the future, but for now i'm pretty sure theres no LSD in it.

Maybe that ECU they mentioned is along the lines of what would be needed to make this car run. No ECU's for the tC are able to handle twin-charging as well if at all as they should. So this new ECU they developed for the Gojira maybe what is needed to make this big paper weight into a track beast.

But if it is 300 - 350 whp it seems like overkill for just that amount. With internals and a good turbo set up you can pull that much.

The 300-350 whp was just a guess, it could be way more i just don't know atm. But yeh its true that ECU is the only reason why that car even runs at all lol. But just to have a custom ECU created just for that setup is insane. Hopefully if this whole twin setup is successful, we'll see it around more and then our tCs would no longer be "underpowered". And i would definitely consider getting it if its in a good price range =D.

Im guessing the cost to twin-charge a tC and get it running smoothly would be around atleast what our cars cost lol.
