I'm curious to see what everyone's opinion on this is...I have a friend at work that's taking the twin turbos and the rest of the set-up off of his twin-turbo Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4...they run at 7psi a piece stock...now I understand that there's a lot involved when it comes to using used turbos but he's only gonna charge me a couple hundred for both turbos and the bov's and everything, I know there's gonna be a lot of custom piping and what not involved, but I'm just curious whether or not this is possible in y'alls opinion or what the deal is?

anything is possible with enough money... but im pretty sure it wouldnt be worth it.. a lot of people at pulling pretty damn hard on their single turbos..

waste of time on a tc. one properly sized turbo is all you need.

the goal of twin turbos is to reduce turbo lag by using turbos in place of one turbo.

now a twin turbo on a tc would mean two tiny turbo's being powered by two cylinders each. the turbo's would be tiny, and run out of breath fast at higher rpms, they would be beyond their efficiency range.

the other way, a sequential turbo, would mean you would have one smaller turbo for low rpms, and a bigger turbo for higher rpms to reduce turbo lag at all engine speeds. but this would be very complicated and unncessary.

just get one good sized turbo, prefferably a ball bearing turbo, either a .48, .57 or .63 a/r depending on when you want the turbo to spool up.

you want a twin turbo set up for bigger engines with longer gears.

Well the main reason I was lookin at this as a possibility is cuz it would be a cheap turbo set-up, only a couple hundred total, which means that all the extra money ie. 2 or 3 thousand extra dollars would be totaly for the custom install...plus I think it would be rediculous to see a tt-tc...

Yeah, twins are for bigger engines to help with lag.
HOWEVER, those 2 might be big enought for you to get just to use one of them and fab up some pipes around it.

yeah, but more turbo's, more complications. but it it simpley isn't effective to do a twin turbo set up on a tc. we have a small engine, and short gears.

you won't see any performance benifits and it will just be unncessarily complicated. i'd just take the one turbo and enjoy boosting.

Well if I do then I will get both and keep one as a back up then...if anyone is in the Houston area, do any of you know of a good place to get a custom install, and also a good rebuild spot?

Yeah that's way too far, plus I didn't really see anything about them doing a custom install for it...

T1 baby! He'll work with what you wanna do. Even though twin turbo on the tC is whack and will do nothing and ull more than likely get ur ___ handed to you by majority of us single turbo guys. 2 week's and i'll have some final numbers to show you what a singel turbo tC will do...

Hey Im looking for a good turbo installer and tuner too somewhere in houston, san antonio, austin area but damn rowlett is 10 hrs away from me lol... any recommendations?

You will deffinetly get used turbos cheaper, but in the long run your setup is going to cost ALOT more than a couple hundred dollars.

A couple hundred is $200. But lets say you had $400-$500 in mind.
Engine management alone will run you $600.
Tunning will run you another $300.
A turbo manifold will run you around $250.
An intercooler will run you around $600.
Piping another $200.
an intake and cone to go to the turbo another $150.
Someone to modify, test, fabricate, install all of this, anohter $600.

So as you can see, its not going to be a couple hundred bucks.

I was just sayin that the tirbos will only cost a couple hundred since they are coming from a friend...that's why I said I could use the other 2 or 3 thousand that you would normally pay and use it for the custom install...

Definately not worth it. There is not much room in there even for one decently sized turbo let alone two. Save your money and buy a proper turbo kit. You'll be much happier.

I heard some dude with a RS1 tC has a twin turbo set up and it's all wheel drive(parts from the Rav4). He suppose to bring the car up to the Scion Exposed show. I have to see it to believe it. If it's true I will take pixs and post them up.

That's why I wanna find somewhere that will do a good check-up/rebuild if needed....Yeah, please post the pics of the awd tt-tc...I would love to see that and know how much it cost and how many hours it took to get that done properly...
