Two greddy questions; ecu, oil pan
First question is the easiest, which oil pan do I need to get from ZPI for the greddy kit? It says it comes with an -8, -10, or -12 barb fitting and I don't have a clue what that means. Also has anyone got has bought it, is it worth the money paid? Or is tapping the oil pan easy and quick enough that I should just do it myself?
Second Question, I have read about the stock ECU having issues because it learns to correct the Emanage a little. What would happen if, instead of using the Emanage with this 8.5 psi kit, you just got the stock ECU reflashed to the same as you would for the super charger? Would that be placing you closer to the engine management you need. I would only be off by 3 psi then, and I don't think a 3 psi difference would be huge, but then again I don't really know, that's why I am asking here. It is also less expencive to get it reflashed and buy the injectors I need myself.
Thanks, and I aplogize if this has been asked before I couldn't find it on the forum.

First thing with the oil pan. IMO don't buy the pan from ZPI. You can get a stock pan from TRDsparks.com for $80 plus shipping. Why the hell zpi took an $80 pan, simply welded a fitting on it and JACKED the price up $95 to a wooping $175 is beyond me. Easiest thing to do is just buy a stock pan (as a back up) and tap it. Tapping it is quick and simple.
With the second question. The reflash with the supercharger, the ecu makes adjustments to run at 14.7 AFR.......Stoich, but too lean for turbo.

what about just buying new fuel injectors with this kit, and not buying a piggy back. I have also read that the stock ecu will make necessary adjustments to run with a turbo. I am not trying to avoid spending th emoney on the e-manage but I hear that the ecu will try to compensate for the piggybacks altering of the signal, basically making the e-manage a whole lot less effective.
Anyone know of some good instructions for the greddy install? I've been looking for those also, the closest thing I found was the pdf in zpi for their kit, and it is just a stage zero.

Yes, if i got the reflash I would also get the bigger injectors. You said the afr would be too lean, would the reflashed ecu see that and make the necessary adjustments then? Normally your ecu will detect that kinda stuff and just pump out more fuel, would the new one, see it was too lean and then make whatever adjustments necessary to the fuel? Sorry if these questions seem trivial, I know the e-manage is a pretty decent way to go, but it's been said that it really is just a temporary fix for a problem and the ECU will fight the changes by adjusting itself.
Thanks for this information so far, I don't really know jack about this, Surprise surprise eh? lol

The emanage theory has never been proven. It works fine for 85% of the Turbo tC's out there. The rest run Unichip.
1. Oil pan: Buy a spare from another 2az motor, via junkyard for $35. Use the fitting from the greddy and get it welded. If you buy a different pan, you will end up paying more $$ to get another oil return line kit.
2. Get the eManage w/Pressure sensor so you can tune off boost. No ECU problems will arise. Just get a good tune.
3. Get some 550's from www.Deatschwerks.com, they are PnP and only $309. Or buy the Option 1 Greddy, with emanage blue and 440cc injectors for $525.
That is all you need.

the directions for thegreddy kit is on the greddy website under something weird where they have directions for everything, u gotta search, but it on there.
I just welded my oild pan and its perfect. Te emanage comes with injector - both of them do i believe.
Ohh by the way the directions for the greddy turbo install suck, if ur doing it ur self make sure u have a good mechanic by ur side.

is the 300 dollor snap in harness worth it for the e-manage. I have no fear of splicing into wires. I used to install car audio at circuit city and now I fix electronics. But in my line of work cutting into wires doesn't excite me that much. It's more of a pain in the butt becuase it takes a long time to prep the wires and make sure everything is perfect, and then you have no goo way to uninstalling those wires. It's expencive, but I am really considering buying it. I'll stick with the e-manage though. There is a tuning shop not too far from where I live most of the time. I'll be sure to hit that place up sometime to get it tuned.

Hey I was checking out those instructions for the install, do you really need to grind the fuel rail? Also how long does this install take about, if you really get to work on it. Aside from a few things, such as the fuel system and the oil pan tapping, I would think it would go pretty quickly.

Thanks for the help everyone. I really wish we understood exactly what the s/c reflash did for the fuel tables. To me that seems like a reflash would be the only correct way to adjust the a/f ratio for our ecu since it'll correct changes, except for w/o. That or make a stand alone. I hear tha tthere some options in the making, I hope they find success for our sake! Either way I guess I'll grab myself a turbo as soon as I get back for block leave.

Hey Deciptikon, I have a turbo tc and if you wanna see some things or need help with an install shoot me a pm or something. I have the dezod kit and it's an awesome kit! I had my fair share of issues, mostly involving my limited knowledge on turbos, but I have learned a lot plus it's LITERALLY a bolt on kit. The Deatsch Works injectors are plug and play, no grinding of the rail because they're basically reworked OEM injectors. As for the pan, it took me literally an hour to drop the pan, tap it with an 11/16th step bit, and then reinstall. The whole install, with my knowledge now, would take me a day to install. As for the ecu, that's a complicated subject. Basically, an emanage can't tune closed loop (up to I think 70% throttle) so you're going to be on the stock fuel map up until wide open throttle. However, if you buy a Dezod Black Box, you can tune your closed loop fuel mapping as well, so you will essentially have a car that drives like a stock turbo'd car. What an emanage can do is correct the ecu on the injector size, since your ecu won't know that you have bigger injectors in. So an emanage is a must if you're going with bigger injectors.
